flicking orfe Can't Post

I have 5 large orfe, 2 of which are flicking like mad all over the place. I tested the water, no sign of nitrite/nitrate/amonia problems. ph is 8. No fish have been introduced this year. I cant see any sign of white spots but have not taken fish out to look more closely as they are too lively and too big to catch. last year they spawned at this time. havent lost any fish since last spring when some weird undiagnosed 'virus' wiped out all my koi and some shubunkins (same orfe showed no symptoms last year and survived). could it be the same virus back again? Or a parasite?

CrazyMy fish have skin flukes! seen them myself under microsope. I have been told to treat with 'sera tremezol' but I havent heard of it before and cant find any info on internet. Has anyone used it before? Did it work? Any side effects etc? Will the flukes return next spring? any advice would be appreciated before I treat them tomorrow.Unimpressed

Unsure Ok, so what did you use to stop the flicking ????? I have koi and minnows that are doing this as we chat. waters good. Have'nt scoped yet but will. This pond has been a problem for 3 years. cant seem to get rid of the bugs. meds, draining let it all bake in the sun. nothing works. The flicking comes right back. Tell us you meds, PLEASE.Smile

AngelicHi pondlady, sorry to hear u r having similar problems. It drove me crazy watching them rub and flick all day! The treatment worked but the manufacturer said that you have to change 75% of the water after 8 hours of treatment as the medication breaks down and makes the water cloudy. This might not be possible if you have a very large pond (mine is 1400 gallons). Also we had to put tap water back in which concerned me but so far no problems and no more flicking!
Medication is from Germany but sold in the US and Europe. Called Tremazol by Sera med. website www.sera.de phone number +49/2452/91260. I phoned them up and found them very helpful.
I strongly recommend that you scope first to check that your fish have fluke as I believe fish can flick for many different reasons. Good luck.Smile
