Hi could anyone help!
my fish is acting very strange. He is normally very bright and greedy. He is not eating today that I have seen. He is swimming ok one minute and then he does a handstand and bends almost in half a couple of times and then swims on again, but clearly not happy!He also stays on the outskirts of the other fish. He was fine yesterday and this has only happened today.

I feed twice a day and all the food is eaten straight away. I do have a lot of Blanket weed growth at the moment if that is an indication of the water quality. I will make watet tests tomorrow.

All the other fish are fine with no signs of any problems.

I have caught the ill fish and put him in a large holding net in the pond for easy capture. He has no obvious signs of illness, no ulcers, spots, parasites, swelling or scale/fin damage. I have not looked at his gills yet as did not want to stress him out as not used to being handled.

any idea anyone! [crazy]

hi Karon, the fact that the fish stay away from the bunch means normally he not doing well. parasite in early stage do not show any thing on the fish. but sometime, he just lost in the wood in couple of days. As you say, check water parameter first then wait and see. As i said in previous post. Fish health is not too complicated: water parameter, too much bacteria and parasite (excluding KHV). Slowly check these thing out and the fish will be OK.

hi

have put fungal and bacterial treatments in pond with a little salt and the fish is now eating and making a recovery.

He is still bends a little when he swims at times but is not as bad. hopefully have caught whatever it was in time.

He is in a large keep net in the main pond and all the other fish have not left his side other than to eat and they sit under the net and follow him round the bottom nudging him. very sweet!
