yellow spot , ID help? Can't Post

Greetings to all on this beautiful site. i am new here and have a question about a yellow spot with some scales seeming to be lifting too on the side of a 3 year old. All others in pond have no problems. fish is active and eats. This week after rains began here in South of Italy pond temps began to drop, now at 22°C. I was thinking it might be a bruise from activity at night, this week is full moon and fish cruise around all night long. All comments and advise are welcomed.

cheers,

hey mikroll,
sounds like dropsy .. cases like these are usually fatal, very hard to get rid of it .. what you want to do is give it a salt bath in a concentration of 0.3% for 10 minutes for the next few days .. thats pretty much the only thing you can really do .. wish you the best of luck with that

Cheers

it's actually just a bruise, blood cannot supplied to the scale, then the scale turn yellow. A clean up with iodine to prevent bacteria infection will do enough. Dropsy is a state of inner organ failure. water get in the body and the fish start to swim unbalancing and inflate itseft to larger size. Scale raised up, and that nothing you can do.

update on yellow spot........... Yellow spot is reducing and scales are no longer raised. This appears to be just a bruise and is in nice recovery. antibiotic bactrium sulfa was given in feed as precaution against infection and a little salt. Looks like this was due to KB or maybe FMRS. All others including the babies are looking OK and healthy.

droopsy is a generalised condition, all the scales will be raised and the fish will look like a pine cone. if only a few scales are involved, it is not droopsy. it can also be droopsy if non of the scales are involve but the fish still looks bloated and a bit pear shaped. gotta love fish medicine:)
