Dear John Bloch

check out the breading koi pages but i would recomend live food such as daphnia. when the fry hatch they live on their egg sacks for a little while then they eat inflosoria also daphnia live on this also (green water) then the fry will eat the daphnia.

If you have a large enough fry pond say 2000 liters or more and plenty of daphnia, start cultures up asap you will find daphnia will not polute the water and will just keep on reproducing. brine shrimp will die if not eaten and priority foods will if not eaten will pollute the water and if they are eaten they then they could lead to constpation prolapsing and nasty death syndrome.

try this

Hope this helps

ha.. well.. I was going to use that term... but, I decided I would wait untill someone told me what it was...

Diet tips?!?!?!

Im planning on putting snails and prong in my tank... I dont think they are big enough to eat them, but the snails should act a bit like a vaccum cleaner... And evidently I will end up with tons of them (thats what a source said) in weeks i'll probably have little snails taking over my Tank... thats ok though... hopefully they are small enough for my little ones...
Tanks!

Hello John, first of all, I need some info on your pond size ect! But snails are not needed! Why? because the so called moss that starts to grow on the sides is good!! Infact the koi will nibble on this growth. In time this will grow from almost peach fuzz to half inch long or so, and this also compliments the pond on a whole! Please remember I am not talking about that GREEN STRING MOSS! As far as your koi, they sell different size pellets! So buy the smaller ones!
