Hi everyone, First off let me apologize for asking about a topic that probably has been beaten to death by now but I just found this site 2 days ago and am still reading archive posts. This is actually my first post and I'm still getting used to everything. I have raised and bred African cichlids for years now and want to try my hand at Koi. I find their beauty and friendliness attracting. I actually had bought 2 small 2-3" Koi from a local pet store a few years ago and raised them to a length of about 12-14". Unfortunately I had to go away for two weeks and had my cousin take care of them for me. Well for some reason they didn't make it. I don't think it was anything he did wrong. I had done water and filter pad changes a day before I left and I think something triggered a water quality problem. The wife and I were so bummed out because we got really attached to those guys. Anyhow we just set up a 40-breeder tank in our living room and bought a few small guys (or girls) to start things off. Water conditions look good so far but the filter is too new to be at optimum working level as of yet. I'll surely keep everyone updated on how it goes. The question I have is this. When I had my 2 Koi years ago I used a food blend called Satori by Kaytee. This food seemed to work very well for me as my boys got very big and colorful and up until my little water/filter pad dilemma, seemed very healthy. Does anybody have any experience with this brand? What would you suggest for a guy who wants to feed his Koi a high quality food without having to take out a loan every time it's time to buy more food. I'm not going to be showing my fish but want healthy happy colorful Koi. Thanks for any suggestions regarding food or anything else I should know... Jay
