We are using Niigata Breeders Floating Wheat Germ Pellets this year. It is an American milled feed specifically made for a domestic breeder here that our club purchases from in bulk once a year. He also makes a high (52%) protein sinking pellet and a color enhancing floating food. We order each spring, the feed is freshly milled, and immediately shipped to us to ensure freshness. Even with the shipping our 33# bag of feed was only $80. The most expensive feed he has made is $105 for a 40lb bag. Here in the US that is much less than the imported feeds from Japan that are made with the same ingredients. The floating wheat germ feed is made primarily with wheat, soy, blood meal, fish meal, krill, kelp, spirulina, and a ton of vitamins. The high protein has a higher percentage of fish meal and spirulina, and the color enhancing feed has a higher spirulina, krill, and blood meal content. The members of our club who have used his feed for many years raise some of the best Koi in the USA and use his feed exclusively.
