Koi Food with colour enchancer Can't Post

Hi,

I have been reading on the net and book that you don't feed baby and young Koi food with colour enchancer, because it will damage their liver.

My question is how old Koi have to be when you can feed it colour enchancing food, because in Australia you can't get Hikari Growth (any food with more 40% protein) and the Koi food with the colour enchance have the highest protein i can get my hand on. I want my Koi to grow a bit faster.

Re: [calis_leo] Koi Food with colour enchancer [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Calis,

This is quite an enigma. I don't feed my juvenile koi with colour enhancer but the same reason that you mentioned.

On the other hand, now I am hearing the major breeders such as Sakai saying that is baloney (?). Momotaro new All season food (the only food?) comes with colour enhancer.

I am just as confused..

But one thing is for sure, there are many kinds of colour enhancer, some working better and some with detrimental effect of shiro etc..

One way to overcome your situation is perhaps to mix the high protein/colour enhancer with none colour food and monitor the results?

Cheers..
