Koi feeding and water temperature Can't Post

Currently the temperature in my pond is between 9 and 11 degrees C. I have reduced the amount of food I give the koi and reduced the protein content. I now feed the fish once a day opposed to the 3-4 times daily I did during Summer when the pond temperature was above 20 degrees C.

However they seem to want more food throughout the day, swimming in my direction as soon as they see me near the pond. Should I feed them more or will I do more damage than good ??

Hi if your koi are very active it is ok to feed them. When the water drops below 50 deg dont feed. The koi will let you know by them coming up and wanting to eat.

The water is currently at 50 deg and on some days it's less. However my Koi, which are still young (measuring between 5cm and 22cm) swim about all the time and swim to the surface to feed when they see me aproach the pond.

They eat the food I give them. Should I continue feeding or am I damaging the koi ?

Hi

Well I gave up on all the feed don't feed science and critical temperature. If my fish come up to feed I give them a bit and I have never had any problems with that method.
