Water temp and quality are the biggest determining factors on feeding I think. You definetley should not be feeding once the water temp drops below 50 degrees, " no matter how much they beg, I guess" Mine are still waiting for daddy to feed them and the temp is at 45 degrees. If your filtration on the tank is good and the water is warm then they will at least need some food. I will gladly accept any corrections from other koi members if I am not right on the button with this.
