Spirulina for Koi

I read something that states that a koi shorter than 14" are to be fed only protein food and not color enhacers since it will affect the kois growth, is this true? how often should you feed spirulina to kois about 4 months old? pls reply, thanks.
- 1. if you have a smaller pond and do not wish to have large koi, feed spirulina pellet all the time
- 2. if you want large koi, do not feed spirulina while under 14"; koi grow faster when not colored; if color too early, may spoil color when older
- 3. larger koi, in my experience, grow faster on staple food without spirulina, so I only feed spirulina for 3 months each year before shows
these are some info about nutrition are they accurate only for winter or even all year round, cause in the Philippines its always summer no winter. Need help, thanks.
