High Carb diets For me, the main emphasis is on balance. Protein in the 35-40% range, plenty of fish meal, krill, spirulina, vegetables of most types, reasonable quantities of wheat, soy, and rice, no corn products (not digestible by Koi), and low carb and ash content. Low protein feed is generally loaded with carbs to balance out the equation. Too many carbs lead to pot bellied Koi with fatty liver disease and other health problems, even in cool water. Fresh fruits, veggies, worms, etc... for treats are also good for health and variety in diet.
