bonito flakes for koi fish

Three questions:
1. Is it safe to feed Koi fish bonito flakes?
2. Are they beneficial to them nutritionally?
3. Do they tend to like them?
The reason I am asking is that I have a few bags of bonito flakes lying around and there is a Koi pond at school (pretty large with many fish). I thought the Koi might like them for some reason ( I don't know why ). But I certainly don't want to harm them in any way.
