feeding new jumbo koi help!!! Can't Post

Hi!

We just recently (about 1 month ago) inherited 4 large koi. One we had to hospitalize for injury to her scales from mating we presume, but she is doing much better now and is back in the pond with the rest. We have always fed with floating pellets, but these larger fish don't seem to come to the top to feed like my other piglets. Should I buy flake food for them that will sink to the bottom? I like the floating pellets because there is less chance of over-feeding, but it just seems like the smaller fish are going to town and the larger ones get just a few and I mean a few if any pellets. Also we have been feeding the medicated pellets to prevent bacterial infection for the recently injured koi but I honestly don't know if she's getting enough. Would you recommend flakes in this case or a bit of both flakes and pellets? I feel like I am starving these poor guys. My smaller ones will hand-feed also but these ones are not that comfortable yet. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Dear LINUS

I guess they are eating now but i wouldn't pamper them to much. Koi are inteligent fish and when they come across food and stuff they have never had before they are always courtous.

Soon they will get the hang on things. But you will find if they have had something your other fish havent, even if it's been years they will rember.

I whent to see a fish i sold to someone years ago and brought some granary bread with me. The person i sold the fish to had never fed brown bread to the fish before. The fish i sold him was at it like he hadn't been fed for 3 weeks the others didn't go near it.

And he was eating from my hand.... funny how they rember stuff init?
