hikari vs saki-hikari Can't Post

Dear all members,

i just realize that hikari and saki-hikari are all the same company. They both made by kamihata fish industries if i'm not mistaken.

my question:
1. what's different between saki-hikari and hikari considering each of this brand has the same type of pellet.( for example: Saki-Hikari has wheat germ and hikari also has wheat germ and so on.).
2. for what purpose using hikari and saki-Hikari.

thank you for all the answers.

Hi maybank,

Saki Hikari Growth diet commands a premium but I'll say it's worth it. Try Hikari Hi-Growth and also Kusuri Super Grow paste food.

Cheers,
Dennis

Re: [dechoong] hikari vs saki-hikari [In reply to] Can't Post

Lets get obsessive compulsive.

Been using Saki Hi Growth for 6 months plus. Good growth but keep getting oily film on top. Combined with strong aeration, this is creating (I think) form on the surface. When I switched to other lower oil feed, the foam disappears in 1-2 days.

Questions:

1. Saki Hikari Basic Diet has 6% fat vs 9% for SK Growth. Will this solve the problem of creating less oily surface and foaming? Any people have experiences to share.

2. Anyone has another non-color enhancing growth food to recommend in Malaysia?
Almost newbie

Re: [maybank] hikari vs saki-hikari [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi maybank,

The surface oil can easily be taken care of by a surface skimmer or a direct overflow from the pond (which I'm using both).

With regards to your question:

1. Saki Hikari differs from normal Hikari mainly with it's Pro-Biotic formula, an enzyme which aid digestion and hence assimilation of the nutrients by the koi resulting in less waste.

2. If you are interested in another growth food without the oil, try Hikari Hi-Growth. It comes in 2kg packaging and works well for me. The downside is it's quite costly, but like you've said it... lets get obsessive compulsive Wink

Cheers,
Dennis

Re: [dechoong] hikari vs saki-hikari [In reply to] Can't Post

I considering switching to other pellets. I am currently feeding Misaki Wheat Germ and the koi growth is some what not satisfactory. I know this may be down to other factors such as water quality, bloodline, etc. but I would like to give other pellet a try to make some comparison.

I am considering Saki Hikari or Hikari High Growth. So you have any other suggestion? Where can I get those in Kuala Lumpur and how much? I am currently paying just under RM60 for 5KG of Misaki food.
