Here is a fish weight calculator I use. It seems pretty accurate. http://www.cnykoi.com/calculators/calclenw.asp Same here with the weather being odd. Last year we were in a drought. This year we have had 20" above normal rainfall and are just now hitting our normal high summer temperatures. (Global warming my arse ) One other thing. These feed rates are for maximum growth on young, fast growing fish. If your filter can't keep up with the waste production you'll have to cut back a bit so your water stays healthy.
Thank you thats very helpful ,i live in Scotland by the way and we are having a terrible summer here ,the air temperature has been hovering around 50 deg for the last few weeks compared to over 90 deg last year at the same time ,the average should be more round 70 deg for this time of year . i am going out to buy a water thermometer soon and then i going by what you have said about feeding to weight ratios at certain temperature i will try to work out the amounts of food to be given . do you know of any charts i can get that will tell me the rough average weight of fish going by its length ? it just that i dont want to have to weight each fish and stress them out . and just to know i have got this information correct can you confirm these examples for me ? 1 fish weight 500 grams the feeding for this fish would be at 45-50 deg little or nothing 50 -65 deg 0.5 % = 2.5grms for this fish (YES, GRADUALLY INCREASING TOWARD 5 GRAMS AS TEMPS APPROACH 65) 60- 80 deg 1% = 5.0 (YES, GRADUALLY INCREASING TOWARD 7.5-10 GRAMS AS TEMPS APPROACH 80) 80+ 1.5- 2% = 7.5-10 grms (CAVEAT, NUTRIENT ABSORPTION SLOWS SOMEWHAT ABOVE 80, KEEP BELOW 1.5%) would that be correct ?
