which one of these foods will be best for the fishes immune system and help them fight disease?
i would prefer to get one rather than to mix it due to cost reasons.

Medikoi should be only used after treatment for some nastys as it contains anti-biotics, and therefore you should only feed it for 10 days.

I'm not so sure about medicarp i think you can feed it all the time. Not sure if it will boost the immune system or not. Maybe a good varied diet is your best bet.

Hi Backslang which Medikoi do you mean as there are two? One by Aqua Meds as Zoul rightly points out has antibiotics so is only for sick fish. The other by NT Labs comes in a few different varieties such as Beauty, Health etc...
This was discussed in another thread here by UK Mick.

I would go for Medicarp as it's the only one that can be fed continuously as an everyday health boosting food for healthy fish. Note though that this will not cure sick fish without medication but helps boost their immune system.

I have a post on my blog about health foods www.koi-carp.blogspot.com

well to be honest my pond is at the back end (i hope) of new pond syndrome as i hot swapped my old filtration for my new one and i want to get my fish back to their best again.
i have noticed one fish flashing and i do not want to treat the pond with chemicals so i thought if the water quality is good and i feed them a health food it will solve it.
i meant medikoi health.

It can be a difficult time trying to establish a new filter. I would add some salt to reduce the effects of a nitrite spike and reduce feeding until it's up and running. If you're not already try adding a product to boost the filter bacteria and increase water changes.

As for which food it's hard to tell without testing. Medikoi health is very good but it's not a complete diet and so you will have to buy something else as well. Food is just one piece in the jigsaw to keeping healthy koi and I'm not sure if constantly trying to increase their immune system works in the long term. A varied diet is best.

Hope this helps and your koi are back to normal.

i have added salt before when i had a nitrite spike and i was battling with flukes (previous filters left a bit to be desired hence that nitrite spike and the new filter lol) so i cannot tell exactly how much salt is still left due to water changes etc.
i have tried a kusuri one and a NT labs one and they were both about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. i think that people only think these products work because they add them once a week for four weeks and their parameters start to drop... by then the colony would start to increase in size anyway! i have not been doing many water changes because i have been waiting on delivery of a water purifier for a long time.. the shop are taking the ****.
I have dai suki gold(until i run out, then i will get some hikari) at the minute so i could feed it along side that?
thanks for your help
