Hello everyone! I recently bought my first butterfly Koi! He's very young still, only about 3 or 4 inches long. (i'm guessing he's about 5 months old?)

He currently is in a 10 gallon tank to make sure he's good and healthy before introducing him into the pond. I definately want to make sure he's eating before i put him in the pond. He's been in the 10 gallon for 2 days now, and i'm worried he might starve himself. I've tried putting in some of my goldfish to maybe spark a bit of competitiveness for food, but nothing. He also seems stressed. he just swims back and forth in the tank continuously and rarely rests.

is there anything i can do for him?

any thoughts or responses would be greatly appreciated! thank you! Laugh

Do you have anything bigger then the 10 gallons. I would say at least 100 gallons would be alot better.

as i said before, he's only going to be in the 10 gallon until i know he's good enough to go into the pond. so it should hopefully only be about 1 or 2 weeks. he also is only about 3 inches long, and the general rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon of a tank, so i know he has plenty of room too.

i'm feeding him hikari gold.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to eat? Unsure

The general rule is 1" for every 10 gallons but more is better even for a short period of time.
