spooked kois Can't Post

Hi. I am new with the kois. Got a pond ( 10' x 10' ) roughly with a waterfall. Got 4 kois ( about 5" to 6" long ).
I was told by the lady I got them from, is to feed them in the morning. To see if they come up. The problem is
hardly see them swimming in daytime. The pond guy who built it, put some hiding places where to fish can seek refuge.
They are always hiding. Then I was told to turn off the waterfall an feed them after they come out. The problem is they do not want to come out. Want to desperately enjoy feeding & seeing them swim graciously in daytime.

Btw, have 2 plants in the pond ( a lily and a foxwort, I think ).

Please advise.

I had similar probs before. First, I got rid of the hiding place then I started throwing pellets from a distance and wait till they come up, once they do next time get closer. Do this every time until they get use to youCool. Try not to do sudden moves, you'll spooked themLaugh.

Good luck.

rgds,
Jon

Thanks, Jon for the advise. Hate to take away their hiding places, due to the fact that I sometimes see

birds of prey ( hawks I think), flying above.

But I will try your other suggestion, if only they will come out.

Planning to add more koi in the next few weeks.

Much oblige.

Dan
