If a Koi doesn't eat, it must be afflicted with some kind of stress. Hopefully it is just upset by the netting. If your koi secludes itself from others, it is very likely that it is not well. If it persist to be like you describe, I suggest you take her out and treat with salt. o.5% concentration for a week. Change 10% water every day then tell us its progress..

hi Hwong,

thank you so much for replying, I am monitoring closely the progress of the fish as it had slim down quite a bit. The problem is that its still behave normally but when it feeding time its just stay in mid water. Seem like worring about reaching the water surface...

Sorry one question, if its really due to stress, to net it up again for the 0.5% salt water dip, will it give it another shock? how long can a koi last without food, jus hope that it will feed when it cannot stand the hunger..advisable???

Many thanks

Hi Koiroi,

If the koi is not coming up to the water surface for pellets, maybe you should try
throwing in some sinking foods to the direction of that particular koi. Maybe that
might help.

In future if you intend to net out any koi for measurement, make sure that you do
not feed the koi for at least 1 or 2 days before the netting process. The worst thing you
would encounter is to net the koi after a heavy feeding becos' that will really stress
out the koi and sometime it may cause dead to the koi as well, in my humble opinion.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Hi Koiroi,

That is the typical behaviour of a male koi i.e. ' trying to reach for the pellet but b4 it break the
surface, it U turn again'.
