Well I dont have a pond yet. But in my fry rearing tanks, all I got are Platnium and Yamabuki Ogons.

Hi s_clan,

Try (my preference in descending order) the following:

1. showa
2. asagi
3. shusui
4. ogon
5. chagoi (I call it the fun koi Wink)
6. benigoi
7. ochiba
etc

Hi Spyder,

My reply is in reference to s_clan who already has 2 kohakus and a sanke Smile. Gosankes will always be the focal point in a pond for me... the rest are just dressing to liven up the hobby Wink. Oh... just want to let you know I've acquired a new Maruboshi kohaku hours ago the moment it was unpacked on arrival. Had a wonderful experience with my "bulging back" and wanted to try a second specimen. Awesome body for a young nissai (or is it a late tosai Crazy).

Always a pleasure to talk to you. You have good immaculate taste for koi Smile I am sure you will update when the time is right, even if it is work-in-progress! Tongue We get to see posting of kois in the first couple of years, but few beyond that to the point when the koi is finished. How nice if we can see more of those.

Hey Spyder,

I'm forever an ardent student of Nishikigoi and I'm just getting comfortable with kohaku and sanke. I'm still left scratching my head over showa, not to mention the rest Crazy.

I'll post a pic of my new Maruboshi under koi appreciation when I get a pic of it. She looks good to me (body conformation, reasonably pleasing pattern and good skin quality) but I would like a second opinion from respected hobbyist like you and the rest of the guys/gals.

Sorry that I've not been following up with a before and after pic on some of my kois. Will definitely do that once (or if) I get a digital camera Tongue.

Hmm... seems I do need a decent digital camera. My latest shots with my mobile camera didn't turn up that well Crazy.
