G'day Liz and welcome to forumWink

I never really bought a filter before, I like making them coz its funWinkTongue and as far as I know Ben is the same. Home made filters works better, IMHOSmile If you check out Ben(Koiguyoz) web site you'll see his diy TT and my diy Drum filter that's been running for the last 4 to 5 yrs now. Good luckSmile

Jon

Yeap I'm the same!!!

I just built another filter 2 weeks ago...I disagreed with my previous filter and promptly put it into retirement.

There are both pros and cons to buying and making your own filter.

Pros:
*Often cheaper than a commercial filter
*Allows you to learn how to put things together
*Allows you to learn about hydrodynamics (hehehe)
*Makes you think about specific surface area and nitrosomonas and nitrobacter (as you can see I'm a very interesting guy hehehe)
*etc

Cons:
*Trying to find the right parts
*....

...now that sounds familiar to me! I'm very glad to hear what you've accomplished. Once the pond clears, and the water is so sparkling clear, you're gonna be smiling from ear to ear! So, Liz, did you eventually get the 300 litre tank? We would be interested to see photos of the progress :) Ciao bella! - Senor Ben

well ben! i saw ur water tank that that is huge - or should i called it gigantic for the size of my pond Pirate.

i got the 75 Ltr basket, am in uni at the moment so cant write too much.
finally its good to see my kois swimming arround. they tend to eat a lot now. probably because of the condition on the water.

cheers,

liz

pond update :water not that green anymore because i have to fill it with fresh water about 3/4 of the water gone.Unsure

Hi Liz,

I'm fineWink not sure about BenCrazyTongue Ben are you thereLaugh

Lava rocks are good for TT or BS filterSmile. If you're using it as wet filter(bio) it will clog eventually and a pain in the butt to cleanCrazy
