Hi its me again..

one question always asked.. does the depth of the pond govern the growth of the koi.. cos, some of my esp yang bercuaca mcm ketani ani said inda jadi hall as long you have sufficient space for the fish to swim. nya durang.. kolam dalam sesuai kalau cuaca sajuk especially masa winter.. air di atas saja jadi baku.. where as mcm cuaca kitani ani.. inda jadi masaalah.. my fish pal di south africa think the same.. what is your point of view.

hi and welcome wiser,

1st of all ur nama "wiser" oredi tell us all u are wiser than all of us.. hehe jgn marah... anyway, the info pasal deep pond utk winter memang betul... TAPI... shallow pond enda semestinya utk summer... SUNBURN kali ah.... unless u provide with good shelter. its true tat byk org d brunei ada pond 2 to 3 ft deep saja n koi dorang pun ok jua... BUT have u seen koi yg BETTER than koi ok saja in term of skin quality??

ok dis is wat i know, bukan pulang ghada2.. if u intent to keep male koi, u at least had to provide em 1m deep pond. male r more tahan nyawanya then female.. As if u intent to keep female koi, u need at least 5ft to 8ft deep pond. psl female more sensitive to ph, temperature changes, bla..bla..bla.. if i continue lagi enda cukup ni dlm forum ani..

my aim is to educate and learn from all org gila koi d brunei, i have gathered some of the old n new hobbies.. i want to form a koi club d brunei macam d singapore, malaysia... aim nya sanang saja.... sama2 belajar.. if u join in the koi club u get to know more ppl. instead of siok sendiri n klu ada problem no body to help u.. rite.. anyway, boleh sms me at 8778155. klu enda balas ertinya aku cbok bagi makan koi.. hahahah cheers....

thxs for the info.. atu problem tu... cos at the moment i m constructing a 0.4m deep pond Frown

. i cud tolerate abt the shade cos i m planning to incooperate a gazebo inside the pond. at least the fish cud betaduh dibawah nya.. u think?.... yep i m planning to have both male and female kois. woah .. wat shall i do ehh.. do i have to asked my men to heck lagi concrete base... or tambah the wall.. or at it is.. cos i ve spend much already.. atleast 5 grand udah ku belanjakan utk pond ani.. (plus the landscape lah).. i ve seen pond di brunei yang inda sampai 3 m deep. and the fish condition was ok lah.. (thats from my view lah not from the expertise like you). and usually some of them sampai satu kaki pun ada.. worst tiap tiap dua hari sekali cuci pun ada.. nda tau lah apa perasaan ikan atu lah.. who knows..

at the moment im still on malaysian koi plus japanese koi from malaysian breed (which i doubt sal nya udah basar basar inda lawa lawa) i also more interested koi with butterfly tail which amaze me a lot ( is there any such thing as butterfly koi?) hmmm..

Anyway i m interested to see your pond ani.. liat lah if sanang sanang nanti i will visit em. i also would like to see this club established and join them.. g pun.. beneficial jua kan.. i m not apa nya urang.. gila ikan.. but more interested in the landscape design wise.

how abt venturi? ada kah perlu d kolam koi.. i ve got 1 inci pipe outlet. have any idea how to make a venturi out of it?

hi wiser,
there is a koi call 'butterfly koi'.. klu enda silap usa yg famous, tapi recently singapore yg supply to us. if u ask me about tampat betaduh atu, well the idea is good. tapi wat if the koi BETAPOK inside? u know koi kadang2 takut meliat tani, so ur koi might hide d dalam pasal sajok n takut. how are u going to see ur koi.. chances is malam hanya ia keluar hahahahaha
ventury atu bagus, it help circulate ur pond water, some book claim dat it for winter use. but my member d jangsak dulu pakai ventury, current too strong katanya n algae d dinding enda grow. now he turn to trickle enda lagi venturi, water nya better and algae on the wall pun hidup. so the choice is urs, i m just telling u the good n the bad.
venturi boleh d modified pakai PVC pipe. for dat u have to consult my member aka cifu d jangsak atu. i know the theory tapi not seen it the real thing b4. so enda brani koment too much.
btw watever u have done to ur pond biar tia, coz klu d pacah lagi takut sambungan nya leaking lain kali. since u r the landscape type n not intending to keep high quality koi, ur deep atu should be ok. but biar pun ia jap koi kah, malaysia koi kah, its still koi. jaga tia baik2. the koi club will not state ur must have jap koi, n member will include tos yg nada koi, tapi minat koi. heheheheh

thxs for the reply kit,

in case of the koi betapuk di bawah gazebo... i better put transparent flooring tah ganya tu.. which is not bad i idea i think....

i might do the venturi kali.. sal im not planning to have a water fall to make it trickle. just water outlet just below the water level.. is that bad? how can i contact ure fren di jangsak ani... mau ia menulung kan tu? anyway.. i ve browse d internet to look ways to homemade venturi ani.. i ll try lah.. but need some hard thinking kali tu.. at the moment i need yang nda payah fikir payah payah which i think your fren di jangsak can give.

how can i become a member ani? sain form? yuran? etc..

Hi Wiser,

1. Depth

You should visit muscleman kit punya kolam. kalau ada peluang make your depth at least 5 kaki dalam. The reason being that fish needs the water temperature to be cool to have a healthy appetide. If the water is shallow and warm, The kois can get sunburn ( like kit said) and also the metabolism becomes high and they do not put on weight.

So in cold climates, if ice form on surface then the depth helps the fish stay warm at the bottom.

in warm climates like ours, the fish can stay at the bottom where its cooler when the sun is very hot.

If your pond is shallow like mine, 3.5 ft, just tanam pohon/bungga2 around it to try and cut down direct sunlight. Only masaala is when the akar grow, it tends to cause the pond to leak like what is happening to mine now. Choose carfully the type of plants you want to put around the pond. Or macam kit, put an attap over the pond.

2. Butterfly koi

I pernah nampak the kupu2 koi in Thailand in the Platunam market in Bangkok. Very cantik and very gracefull swimmers but not for me. Prefer original walau pun made in Malaysia.

3. Yellow Black

I like the Yellow Black Koi icon you use. Can you pass me one so that I can paste it on my mails to my friends when I email them. other model pun boleh juga asal orange on black atau merah on black. That the koi I am asking kit to help me look for.

thats the problem. at the moment sudah construct with 0.4m deep. can goes to max 0.5m deep. tadi balik ke rumah kajap and chk walaupun dalam hujan.

i didnt think of if the kois got sun burn. nda apa lah anyway as i said earlir gazebo pun ada.. kalau inda pun other than fish food, i ll put some sunblock cream to my fish Sly

ure problem with leaking. usually leaks occurs arah tamuan base and dinding bata usually happen kalau nada kick (foot). kalau mid leak.. there is various kind of waterproof sealan. the best that have been recommended to me was the pave seal by unicorp.

banar tu kata BBK atu psl pond deep, i agree 100%.. psl transparent shade atu,baik tah pasang tinted no 1 o yg shinning yg dipakai d kerita hahaha, remember dat skin quality is one of the priority of a GOOD koi, beside body shape n pattern..
abt d koi club ani, its just a plan, alum start. may b not call a club. may b panggil 'koi member brunei'.. will start a new topic abt dis.

i ve consult my men.. how to deepen the pond.. the very max we cud go 0.8 m atu pun kan mencacah lantai gazebo udah... i ll try to post u the pic di sini for ure guys to evaluate..

macam mana dengan venturi?

how can i visit ure pond ani.. mau jua kan meliat ure kois yang basar basar ani.
