Hello there menghun,

I put around 4kg of coral rocks in my bio-filter box and i'm using 8ft length x 4ft wide x 2.5 height. The cost is BND$538, expensive kah?

Menghun, you have to address Kit as Kit Kichi...not just Kit..He has been promoted lately lah in the forum...hehehehe....TongueTongueTongueTongueTongue

Menghun,

Refill?? a) I have not refill any new coral rock yet or b) I put it in the "Onion Nett"

Its cheaper in your area...coz yours is 3ft height.

You can see some of my FG tank / filter photo in the thread " My pond condition".

Yoo sifu Kit n Menghun,

I have 5kg of sea shells in my biofilterSmile Been using it for the last 3 to 4 yrs now which reminds me I have to check them see if needs cleaning or if they're still thereShockedLaugh Anyway, got my shells for free, kids like collecting them everytime we go to the beach so I don't run out of suppliesSly

You can also use oyster shells as ph bufferWink

Hi Sifu Kit,

I've never seen anyone using corals, oyster or even sea shells as biofilter, as ph buffer yesSmile I think the reason behind this is this shells releases calcium and the good guys doesn't like it, me think not sureCrazyLaugh
Anyway, they don't have a large surface area compare to Lava rock, BH/BS or eve JMatt. For good filter you need a good media with a large surface area for the good guys to colonizeSmile

That's my 2cent worthWink

Jon
