Guys,

After getting more info and insights for this event, this surely is one that must not be missed. Momotaro is renowned for its good growth rate and skin quality for their prized koi. CoolGetting a chance to own one is a real experience, so get those fingers typing and confirm your place. "While stock lasts!!!" hehehehLaughWink

Consider it as an early Fathers Day present!!! hehehehehe, rite cifu..... hehehe

Re: [koi@kit] MOMOTARO GROW OUT EVENT [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,
So tempted to join the event but sadly, I split my time between Brunei and Malaysia and sadly, my pond resides in Miri. Unsure How I wish there are enough hobbyists here to start one grow out event here. Admire you guys, and a momotaro grow out event some more. Oh well, have to say it would be interesting still for me to watch from the sidelines. Kit, have to introduce me to kemeer, sunshinekoi and many more haha, met Robert the other day, such a nice guy. Best of luck to the event guys.

Regards,
Francis

Re: [koi@kit] MOMOTARO GROW OUT EVENT [In reply to] Can't Post

All,
To appreciate and enjoy good quality koi & beyond, it is important to understand what you are looking for in a koi. A grow up event serves the purpose. That will tells you about that farm's quality production, bloodline, development, expectation & $$$. Of course there will be difference in price and range of quality for grow out event not just here but everywhere. In this case, I think the cifu's cifu is bringing the best out of his ponds for us to learn with the best offered price.
Time will says it all and it is up to us to justify. Wink

Re: [sunshinekoi] MOMOTARO GROW OUT EVENT [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Sunshinekoi,

Thank you for sharing with us the growth rate of your koi. I am a bit confused with regard to the date
becos' in your post you mentioned a 10cm growth from the month of June to November whereas Kit's date
was from September to November. Anyway, it seem to me that you have managed to put on more girth
into the koi body conformation and tail tube section. From the photos, I think both your koi has lost out on
the skin luster / shine and colours quality which could be due to your water conditions and type of feeding
pellets, IMHO.
Maybe more BH media, Super Clean C, more aeration and 20 - 30% of fresh daily water exchange might
make a different to the koi. Just my 2 cents worth. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Re: [thiamhwa] MOMOTARO GROW OUT EVENT [In reply to] Can't Post

Thiam Hwa,
Thanks for your comment. You are indeed correct. Laugh I wasnt putting too much effort on the polishing part. I only come home twice a week and only manage to change some water partially in the weekend which is not even 20%. There is instead some very minor overflow everyday to keep the water clean. Most of the time is my feeding specialist taking care of. Can't help it though. heheheheLaugh
I am not too much worry about the shine at this stage. It can always be re-vitalise.Sly The important thing for me is it is able to grow in my mini pond (2.3ton) although very crowded with other 6 koi.
I dont use super clean C as I dont think it is applicable by looking at the water condition. Lots of BS which is the one that keep the nitrate (less than 10PPM) under control for 4 times per day feed. No trace of Nitrite and ammonia. Yes! Lots of aeration....Sly. If you talk about discharging water everyday, I hardly see my specialist drain any at all. Cool
Hope this answer some of your doubt.

Hi Kit,

A growth rate of 13cm in 3 1/2 months for a 40cm plus size koi is very impressive.
That is why you are indeed a great " CIFU " in this koi keeping hobby.Wink

Re: [sunshinekoi] MOMOTARO GROW OUT EVENT [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Sunshinekoi,

Thanks for the explanations given as to why the koi has not turn out so good as expected. Sadly,
in this hobby there are just no short cut in having a good husbandry koi keeping skills. A lots of sweat
and time are required for this very demanding hobby.
Lately, when I was away on holiday for 10 days last week, there won't anyone taking care of the
daily maintenance of cleaning and back flushing etc. to my pond. Upon returning home, I was quite
surprised that the water was still crystal clear. I think that was becos' I have only set the auto-feeder
for 2 times of feeding per day. The koi do not have enough to eat and so they even ate most of the algae
found on the floor and walls of the pond. Good way to get ride of the algae, hehehehe !
BTW, your 'Home Minister' has been doing a great job with pumping up the koi. She only left you with
the easy task of ' polishing up ' the koi. Good for you!

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa
