I personally think this sanke is not that good interm of pattern, too dull.

red pigment is good, is it female? black pigmentation good, well place too.

body too skinny, head part too long.

39cm less than 1 year old is quite good growth rate.

good speciment.

Hi cifu,

I agree this is a tategoi, body is long enough for this fish to grow big, if it does, then this pattern is not a problem, its more of a big fish pattern. But the shoulder and head is a bit narrow and it looks a bit 'male-ish', is it a charecteristic of this bloodline?

cheers!
scotto

Hi cifu scotts..

RYU bloodline are mostly longish body when young, as many oredi know they start 'bom bom' when their growth rate slow down, some at 70cm some even at 80cm..

just hope this koi can grow big then her pattern will not b an issue.. might enter her for the coming koi show..

anyway i dont have very high hope in this koi as she is not dat expensive..Sly

Hi Kit,

With your 6 star husbandry koi keeping skills, you don't need an expensive koi to win in a Koi Show.
I think this koi will be ready for the Show in a couple of years from now when she hit the 75BU mark.
The large HI pattern on the shoulder should not be a problem when she put on more volume into the body.
Actually, it is desirable to have the Hi wrapping down below the lateral line of the koi. When this happens,
it is called a Maki.
Please keep us posted on its development becos' I am confident that with your loving tender care, this koi
will eventually develop with a wonderful body conformation in future.

Best Regards,
Thiam Hwa

Hi Sunshinekoi,

I am only in this hobby for the past 2 years and so I am still consider a newbie lah.
I will be glad to share from what I have learned and gathered from the cult koi book
regarding koi appreciation, but on the other hand I am also nervous about the copyrights issue.
Don't really want to have to face with legal letters flying through my front door CrazyCrazy!

Hi Kit,

From what I understand, your koi collection is already in the B$xxxx min. catergory.
So, with your skills and B$xxxx for a Tosai, I think it is not a problem at all to compete
with $xxxxx koi and still emerge as a winner, IMHO.
