Re: [dafish] My pond condition [In reply to] Can't Post

yoo dafish..

to be honest with u, u green water is fine.. if u ask me, i want my fibre tank to have the same water condition. as it is good for the koi's skin quality. the only problem will be hard to see koi.

as a beginer 'green water' is bad news. but now for me, raising a good skin quality koi is 1st priority. clear water of 'moderate' water quality means nothing to me..

cheers..

Dear All,

Some good news and bad news to share with after adding a sorta trickle tower (the blue drum in the picture, ie P1010571 & P1010576)

Good news
- my green water problem have been solved after 5 days of adding the trickle tower.

Bad news
- My ammonia and nitrite reading (refer to picture P1010581) are really dangerous for koi. However, all my kois react normally and no stress sympton can be seen. Ever since, i have stop feeding them. (They must be hungry Frown)

Questions:
1. What should we do to reduce the ammonia and nitrite? I have filter out the waste in my first black chamber every day, have reduce the feeding, partially change water once a week.

2. Will the green water problem come back again since my pond is not under any shade?

3. how's the shape of my Momotaro kohaku? over feed?

yoo dafish..

ur change of water parameter is due to the 'new' bacteria' in ur pond. sure ur water will 'green' again once the rain start to come.

u r doing the rite thing, reduce feeding n partial water change will reduce the ammonia, nitrite n nitrate.. but if u want to have a strong bacteria u better dont change too much water, it only reduce the number of bacteria. reduce feeding shud b the best at this moment.

ur kohaku is still 'thin' for me.. u need to 'pump' them up once ur water parameter is ok again.. but the 'red' is very good leh.. u will missed this 'red' once ur water 'too clear'.. hahahahahahahha
remind me to bring paste food on sunday at nelson's hse..

More pictures to comes... Hi Dafish, How big is your fiber tank? How many kois you have in there?Answers to your questions..... 1)To reduce ammonia and nitrite,do a partial change of water say 25 to 30%.You can also buy a product called "Ammolock" to reduce your ammonia. But also check your testing equpiment, might be old or expired! 2)If your TT and filter are matured and you changing water once a week,do not think the green water will come back. 3)Your kois look thin.Males i think.

Master Cifu Koiman,

Thanks for your comments.

My fibre tank is 8ft long x 4 ft wide x 2.5 height...the one i bought it from Ricky. I have 4 momo kohaku and 1 lousy ogon (just to make up the number, 4 not nice right?)..hehehe..my preferable number would be 3...hehee

yup all male coz female koi very hard to take care for a beginner like me...hehehehe...

Ammolock?? I remember Ricky mentioned this product to me before. Does it help? I dont dare to use chemical solutions coz i have bad experience with it.

Expired?? Ok..need to check on this...

So does that mean i have to wait again for the TT and filter to mature?? Laugh

Yup Ricky have the Ammolock. Its a good product and you can see the results instantly. What do you have inside you TT?Bioballs or any others?Have to really look at your filter before I can comment.Your TT will probably matured in 2-3 weeks.Think you might need Momotaro BH for your set-up.Sly

dafish..

i agree with master cifu koimann.. BH is a good investment. i think u fibre need only 20kg to 40kg.. u can add 10kg for the 1st 6 mth then slowly add some more..Tongue

i have seen the result of ammonlock.. very2 effective..abt ur using chemicals.. hmmmm... trust ur instink. see ur koi's condition, u know ur koi better.. m i rite?Sly

koimann is rite, test kit might have expired, just like mineCrazyCrazy
