Hi all,

its winnie here, im newbie and love kois and this forum. actually im looking for asian sites for melihara koi.... and how glad im stumble on this our local own forum.. thks for you kit, maxilla, wiser, kemeer and other who contribute ure expertise on koi.

btw, the most reason aku masuk this forum cos, i m gonna build my 1st concrete pond which i wud like to incooperated with plants i mean be landscape lah.. wat i read ada several contributors saja yg buat 'quality' rearing and others for aesthetic appearance but using local kois ( which i m) cos inda ku tebali koi jepun atu. It seems c wiser yg ada mention abt this and knw stuff abt pond landscaping. i wud like to get intouch wif him. I mean lama udah ia nda masuk this forum. my Qs. how can i contact him, phone? Email? Is he local bruneian or ready available for advise kah? Is he a landscape contractor? Is he the one on nelson new pond atu kah?

pls reply guys. your help are appreaciated.

p/s: wiser if u read this sorry abt the Qs.

Hi koi ku,

1st of all.. welcome.. you r very correct.. wiser memang xpert dalam landscaping pond and koi, but beside him, we also have kameer, bukitbunggakoi, which i think r equally as good.. masing2 mempunyai kelebihan.. Wink

i will sms c wiser for u, coz i m not sure if ia ok or not if i pass his phone no. d forum ani.. beside that, this puasa month is the busiest month for him,.. pasal karjanya...

hope u survey dulu sebelum u buat ur pond.. join us for ur pond visit, learn and see more abt filter system and how it works. this will give u more idea on wat and how to make ur pond..

u can join the koi member by sms ur name, and koi details to me 8778155 (so that can sms u when there is a ko meet, usually on sunday morning).. if u free this sunday pm we are fixing filter net for nelson new pond..

Visit to nelson pond are very tempting, 1 thing for most, m i the only girl in the group?, cos i, for sure m shy and this is the 1st time gonna meet u guys... krg membari malu kalau ada dgn baik jua. then, takut ku krg nada topic ku dpt bincangkan. My boyfriend not very keen abt this pond thing either Frown

.. ( but i want to learn). btw, i m living on my own house and i want to make my pond a good one.

i think i know siapa wiser ani, yesterday pm i went to petshop di qlap and nda secara langsung asked abt him and suddenly the cashier pointed to one guy busy looking at fish food!!! ( Blush

hi koi ku,

u can learn more about making ur boyfren intrested in koi by reading a post by wiser.. ' how to make ur spourse intrest in koi'.

there's no worry about joining us, most of us muda2.. ada jua yg tua but semua ok, mostly we talk about koi, if u know something share ur skills, usually we discuss a lot of koi problem dan lain2..

wah byk nya peminat wiser ani, ia ni memang hansem.. Wink

.. tapi please jgn kacau ia when theres a koi meet.. coz we only talk koi, koi, koi...hehehehehe

can u tell me a little bit abt ur koi history(experience with koi and koi pond)??

1st of all sorry cant make it to nelson punya gathering, 2ndly, as i mention on my prev post my Bf not to keen on this koi thing so he also 'remind' me not to give details. sorry didnt text u yesterday.. pity huh Unsure

. Actually i ve been trying to convince him that abt my koi project. liat lah one of this days kalau u all ada gathering, i ll tag him along.

Dont worry abt me kan kacau si wiser, cos.. altho he 's cute. Shocked

.... ada one girl tag on him all the time when i saw him at the pet store **sigh**.. his Gf or wife maybe. Pirate

Ok abt this hobby.. i pickup this with my prev BF. he loves koi. and got different varieties of kois. i love the most yang ada bulat merah on the head (is it tancho). I remmember he bought $0000 from singapore. Btw.. i love to feed em. and sometime they like to play around my feet. the prob is that he got that square rise pond with ckit ckit bonsai. thats it, i wud like to see some plants around it. u know siuk mata meliat.

Then when we broke up 2 years later . Unimpressed

.... and i still adore kois. i bought 3 for $10 kois. Which i put them inside fibre tank. then i measure after 1 year. the result nda mau basar basar.. lambat. atu pun colornya pacah pacah. then last 3 months i was transfer to bandar and I bought a house. tho it is small, my dream to have a fish pond with landscape view still flashing in my mind. still got some money leftover from hse loan. i think i gonna build my self a pond...

hehehe how my story? dull isnt it..

.. i got a fren same situation wit u, she is skillful melihara koi, tapi hubby not supportive. but until today i like to talk koi with her, eventhou i know she will not pelihara koi, but i still update her with all koi news.

well, u r always welcome to bring ur BF to join us. koi is a hobby to get to know more fren n learn more koi skill. btw we are ordering japanese (in english) koi megazine soon, check the post abt koi megazine (nichirine), or u can just baca during our koi meet, usually i will bring my copy for semua to view.. Smile

have u heard of girls play football?? dulu2 nobody will agree girl main bola d brunei, but now there's a lot of girl football team.. same with ur koi hobby.. one day u will be succeessfull.. sabarrrr.. Cool

woahhh bky udah member baru nie.. ok first thing.. i want to clear up a bit sal Qs si Koi Ku ani.

koi ku.. my name Shufiady but everybody call me PD.. antah maybe payah menyabut nama ku atu.. i m local Bruneian and sometime busy kadang kadang inda but most the time busi sangat. i work for public sector i.e. HM government lah sanang cerita.

btw, i m blushing when reading ure post atu Blush

.. am flattered abt the puji pujian but not all shud be given to me.. we have all different kind of specialist here just like apa c kit cakap. i m just here menyampuk yang mana ku tau saja..

i think i did notice u masa di pet store (my 3rd hse tu i.e after my ofis and my real hse). yeah i think it was you.. i was cbuk membali makanan ikan and kucing. while u cbuk meyubuk yubuk - senyum senyum i tot urg mana that time baik jua nda kana cubit Wink

. but as for now, what u can do if u cannot join us,

1st browse dulu di internet learn abt memelihara koi ani.. sal when u make something expensive do it right dont make the same mistake that i ve done..

2ndly pls slow talk wif ure BF abt the goodness memelihara koi... tell him having pond bulih mentenangkan jiwa (pls dont mention it remind of ure old BF!!!) u know lah wat to do.. ladies pandai memujuk.. kalau nda dapat jua threaten him Laugh

3rdly.. if u dont mind.. post layout of ure house including the surrounding especially tempat where u want ure pond to be located.. probably if i got time i can proposed sample landscape drawings and if u can slow talk c kit he can draw u the pond layout.. pls include di mana ada Manhole, sub drains, water pipe or electrical line if ada. this thing shud be consider also... ahh i want to know where s ure north is.. pls indicate in the drawing too. or kalau ure BF setuju.. we go to ure hse and to some lil survey.. and this cud be project for the club. (btw, berapa ure budget ani?)

think about it.. and let us know abt the outcome.. dont worry.. worst come to wrost u still can melihara koi tapi dalam fibre... (dalam fibre pun ure BF marah.. aku pun nda tau tu kan buat apa apa..)

anyway for u kit.. none taken apa yang c wiser cakap atu... its true.. my passion on kois doesnt reflect from my old BF nor yang baru ani... ganya u know lah.. when come to my age ani, malas ku kan cari lain lagi.. so may be i will try to slow talk to him... kalau inda pun ku simpan saja fibre saja as c wiser cakap atu.

Good to know that we have some female koi buff here in brunei. heheh Unimpressed

Pasal koi offer ku atu, hehehehe... please don't get overly excited. Like i said they are just cheap kois. Bought them for the purpose of experimenting on koi growths based on quality of food given, and also at that time membuwang boringku Smile

. Sad to say, inda berapa menjadi.... I wouldn't say they are ugly or anything, just not my cup of tea. If you are into growth rate and pattern of koi, don't get these!! they're not up to standard. If you merely into having lanscaping and mid rate quality koi, barangkali ikan ani pun bulih. Insyaallah....heheh

Try and get opinions from kit and others regarding koi bloodlines, as they would be more frequent than not to grow to be jumbos. Like Kit would say, "It would save you alot of effort and money!!!" If you really like those tancho kois, i know a place that has one priced below 200 bucks. The downside about that place is that you wouldn't know which farm the kois come from. Again kit and others would be knowledgeable in that area.

Thanks kemeer for the explanation, I ve 2nd thought, for my new pond tu nanti, I m gonna used those super high quality Japs Kois pulang. I ve read 1 article stated that we only required to have only 1 koi per 1000 litre of pond water.. is that correct kit? If is true I m gonna need mcm 5 � 6 kois saja..

Pd, I ve survey my compound tadi ptg wif my niece.. ngalih.. but worth it.. so its up to u now for ure comments and advise. That ure time I know u re busy. Pls don�t limit ure self on designing it. my budget 2k for landscaping, 5k for ponds and 2 for fishes. ok kah tu?

Kit, I ve talk to BF already. Who cares what he wants. Its my money and my house. I can do anything wif it..

i m not a koi pond guy, watever ur pond is ok wit me, klu koi n filter aku bolih advice.

koi

male or female koi??
a.male koi need at least 1 m water height, female need at least 5ft above..
b.male koi easy to jaga and lawa tapi finish early (5yrs??), female sensitive to water quality, food and
female 4 yrs to mature n become lawa (better investment)..
c.male usually cheaper than female.. but good male can cost more than 1k depends on quality.

decide what kind of koi u want then make ur pond.. 2k for high quality koi is not enough. but u can start with a few good ones and add slowly say seekor setahun.. Wink

Filter

a.filter must have bottom drain, shallow (3ft) but wide(1m), deep filter encourage anerobic bacteria..
b.filter must b of biological set up.. maintenance free as possible..
c.sanang d cuci, pakai concept toilet bowl, flush saja hahahahahaha,.....

please ask n servey what type of filter u want.. i know 2 type, izeki style and momotaro style..
