{Need Info please}Especially those in Kelapa Gading area Can't Post

Greetings there fellow Kois' lover,

Anyone here familiar with the location of "Sentra ikan hias Gading Mas" in Kelapa gading area?I've heard the name Exotic aquarium (said to have Ogata Koi food) and Makmur aquarium in Gading mas area mentioned before but I'm unable to find their telephone number/address. So, if anyone know where this Sentra ikan hias gading mas is, then I'd really appreciate it if you could provide me with direction/phone number. Thank you very much for your time.

Hi Peter, the place u r looking for is no longer present .. it used to be located opposite of Goro but now the place has been leveled to the ground for future development i believe. If u are looking for ogata food, the nearest place from kelapa gading is kartini or sunter koi ph 654-0481. Btw Hv u tried saki hikari ? I used to buy in bulk (15kg), if u want u can share some kg from me. good luck ! Paul.

Hello there Paul, thanks a lot for the gading mas infos, no wonder I couldn't find the place...about the sunter koi, I just got their phone number 2 days ago from the forum. I talked with pak sugiharto yesterday and already agreed to purchase the 5 kg ogata (color purpose, small size pellet) but thank you for the offer though, I'd really appreciate it. I actually haven't tried the saki-hikari, although I heard it mentioned a lot. By the way, what size of pellet do you get in those 15 kgs bulk purchase if I may ask?

Best regards,

Peter

U r welcome Pete, the 15kg only comes in large size pelet I think. I heard ogata colour is good but havent tried it yet. So far I tried Excel and Sakai Colour but presently i no longer feed colour food but i feed paste food containing ground dried shrimp + pelet + honey + vitamin. I feed this paste food once a day. Do you live in Klp Gdng area btw ?

Hi Kohak_doitsu, i like saki basic b/c mainly it produces less waste .. i used to split up the 15 kg with friends of mine. So sometimes i left with 5 - 8kg depending on my friend's stock rate. So far those who share seems pleased with the result of saki basic.

My fish counts currently is 16 and i want to reduce it even further to 10 until my new pond is done. It seems u r a sakai fan ? frequent visitor of golden ?

Well if u live in cilandak better go to nirwana in serpong or jakarta koi in lentengagung. pulogadung and kelapa gading / sunter is not too near man .. must be long lunch hours you got there. i used to add salmon into the paste mix but i ve stopped using it since it made the water oily / dirty. Kentaro sakai said that paste food is the best food especially for large koi. The ingridients his farm uses include sakai pellets, oyster, shrimp powder, honey, clay among others. As far as the result goes i m particulary pleased with the growth rate of this particular fish posted. It is of sakai origin descendent of donguri lines parent benihanako.

Hi there kohaku_doitsu, thanks for the suggestion. So far, I have 2 kohaku, 1 asagi, 1 kujaku, 1 gin hi utsuri, 1 gin shiro utsuri, 1 tancho showa, and there's one I actually am not sure whether it is a hariwake doitsu with orange marking or a kohaku doitsu?I got it from indokoi, and i didn't really paid any attention to when the lady owner said what kind it is, but I know it's a doitsu for sure......I'm guessing from your username Smile then maybe you can help me to identify it? (i'll try to post the picture) Anyway, I'm planning of adding 3 to 4 more, maybe 2 kohaku, 1 asagi, and probably a gin sanke....any suggestion to where I could find a nice asagi?Indokoi has two 25-30cm the last time I visited but I didn't really like both of them, while Nirwana doesn't have one at the moment.

cheers,

peter

The main base for the paste is the koi pellets, you use a blender to grind the stuffs you wants your kois to eat. The ratio of the pellets is always the largest (e.g. 50% minimal) because the pellets contains binding agent that is important for making the paste. After it becomes smooth you add water (containing honey, vitamin) little by little in order to make the small pieces (peanuts size). Tip: if you add koi clay, it makes the paste less sticky when handling.

The main goal of making this paste is to perform select feeding and it is more fun feeding koi this way. At first the fish may shy away when u throw something that sinks into the pond so make the paste size smaller and dont throw it all at once ! start little by little by throwing near to the greediest fish and soon the others will follow.

I think in this hobby everyone is still learning, all you can do is minimize the damaged cost .. by being a keen learner and do not hesitate to ask or share your experience ..

Yap culling is a cliche that every koi kichi faces, there is no limit even when we said enough is enough .. meanwhile we have to reduce the numbers in order to buy new kois. Again i have repeated saying to my self trying to achieve the zen appearance in koi pond but so far still fails to do that .. it is an addiction now i understand what waddy said

Hello Kohaku_doitsu,

I'm pretty sure now that it's a hariwake, but anyway, I'm posting the pictures of it.....I just got back from Sunter koi last week, but didn't have much time to look around because the Mrs was with me that day, and I kind of already told her I won't take long and that I was there just to buy some food not the fish Tongue oh well, maybe next time.....btw, Mr Sugi told me that there's a sale going on the tanjung mas Koi's centre, something like buy 2 fishes and get the 3rd one for free if I remembered correctly, so maybe it's worth checking.

Thanks again for your guidance there Paul….I will start this project during this upcoming holiday period. I’m actually doing select feeding with the pellet right now, and I can’t agree with you more that it’s much more fun to do, and as far as the greediest of the bunch I’ve got one, it’s the gin shiro and it is also the very first one that comes when I hand-feet them Smile anyway I’ll post my experience after I’m successful in feeding the paste.
I do have one question though: where do I get the Koi’s vitamin?Any particular brand or maybe a store that sells Koi’s vitamin?I'm currently also looking for a store that sells good water treatment products?
While it may be true that everyone is still learning, some of us have more experiences than others, but not everyone is willing to give time in sharing their experiences like you do Paul.

Peter, koi hobby is about GIVE and TAKE .. you GIVE ur unwanted kois away sometimes with rewards sometimes for free and you TAKE new kois .. hehe just kidding

Vitamin for kois is actually similar to human and i never heard about vitamin specially for koi because actually koi food contains everyting needed for koi development. I add vitamin because sometimes when koi food loose its freshnest some vitamins are said to be lost hence we need to replace it and i dont feed paste food often b/c it is dirty. You can try redoxon, protecal (1/4 size mixed with water) or any kid's vitamin (Becombion sirup for instance) Honey is good ! Heck sometimes i add yakult (lactobactillus) just a little bit and some even throw in cut papaya for kois to aid digestion.

However pls use moderation for dosage when adding vitamin/other supplements to the paste. We dont want to go over the hill and cause negative effect for the kois. Concerning water condition/medication products try Golden (koi specific), Dragon or Laris (for wide range application).

A friend of mine actually does release his unwanted kois (I remember 2 of them were imported one) into a nearby public pond instead of giving away it for adoption. I don't agree that unwanted koi, being an import or local one, should be release into a public pond, personally I think it's better to give it away for adoption.
Btw, you mentioned Laris, did you mean Laris aquarium that also sells chiller in Makaliwe area? Thanks for infos Paul

Peter
