Report! [In reply to] Can't Post

The usual gang of suspects met up again today for the 2nd Jakarta forumers pond visit.
Host this time was Rendy, who has a roughly 30T pond (including filter) filled with mainly tosai gosankes.
I arrived a bit late (had to appease the wife first by bringing her to her favorite dimsum rest for lunch) to find Rendy, Hasan (luckyl), Andrew, Maris, and Paul all drooling over Rendy's magoi hybrid which measured 47cm (purchased at 26cm in August). This fish was bought directly from Yoshida fish farm (owned by ex-Shinkoukai VP) in Japan.
Rendy kindly allowed us to bowl his fish one by one, but those guys were fast to zip around the pond, so we didn't get a chance to check each fish out.
We did find some impressive progress of koi in this new pond (barely 4 months old, right Ren?).
a soragoi had grown from around 30cm to 50cm, a few Sakai kohakus from 21cm to 35cm+, and some momotaros from 25cm+ up to 39-43cm.
An Izumiya ogon Rendy bought from me had also developed amazing girth.
Though a new hobbyist, it was clear the man is on the right track.

It started drizzling during our bowling koi exercise, thus we retreated indoors to Rendy's lovely home. Inevitably the visitors started to comment about Rendy's vast back garden, mumbling among each other about how Rendy should have built a big pond there (easily 100T attainable) and pointing to one spot after another where we felt would be a good location for his 2nd pond. When ultimately the guys started telling him he should convert his beautiful swimming pool to a koi pond, our host very quickly changed the subject of conversation. obviously there's only so much harrassing one can take from koi crazy people who pay no interest for the need to exercise/keep fit nor the aesthetics of an already beautiful home.

During the rain delay, we were entertained by luckyl's son Andrew who had the uncanny ability to do a funny impression of his Dad. At first We didn't understand what the young fella was doing, sitting on the couch next to luckyl and making weird facial expressions and strange exaggerated hand gestures. That was until we noticed his old man next to him starting to do the exact same thing, except in his case it came naturally. HAHAHA.

Noticing that the 2 luckiest dogs in the world (aka Rendy's labradors) were nowhere to be seen, i inquired to Rendy who disclosed that they were still being grounded for having made an expensive meal out of their master's S$xxxx ranchus a couple of weeks ago. Poor Rama and Leksi (their names), not allowed to roam around the 1500m2 house and banned from enjoying their afternoon swim in the pool. Instead, they had to stay in their roomy doghouse (which, by the way, is airconditioned i kid you not).
Hope they've learned their lesson. Rendy, actually to REALLY punish them you should consider switching off their a/c, you know. That'd teach them!

After the pond visit, we decided not to go to the Japanese koi dealer near Rendy's home, as his attitude during Rendy's last visit had rubbed us (well, Rendy and me) the wrong way. So it was off to lunch where Maris, Rendy, and I found out to our horror that they didn't allow smoking. A fully non-smoking restaurant here in Jakarta! Mad What will they think of next? Make us put downpayment before ordering our meals? Hmph! Food was very good, fully paid for by our host, so one can't complain.

er

On second though, one CAN complain. what the hell. Non smoking indeed!

Oke back to koi. Next pond visit the guys nominated me as host. I guess it's only fair but it'd have to wait till i come back from a short trip next week (to visit Singapore koi dealers with Rendy and Maris).

On a last note, Rullysim missed this pond visit as he had to go to school. Apparently our friend is going to law school during weekends. It can't be for the money, so we can only presume he's making sure what his legal rights are in the cases whereby a dealer sells him a male fish while promising a female. Study hard, Rully, and share your knowledge with us when you can ascertain how much compensation we're entitled to in such events. In the meantime i'll start listing down where i got those male fishes of mine from.

Have a nice weekend everyone, and till next time.

cheers,

Re: [Soelistyo] Report! [In reply to] Can't Post

Again what a report Joy, attention to detail is excellent as usual!!...I must agree that the little chaps had a good growth during the past months, can only hope that the growth don't stagnate so soon (I want some jumbos too he2)...though the pond is quite new, I guess the good growth is possible as a result of no Jumbos swimming in the pond, therefore the overcrowding issue is minimum...it will be a problem in the next 6 monts or so tough, when some of the 20-30 CMs koi gain some growth...I think my pond is more like 20-25T (with filter), which further amplify future overcrowding, as I currently have 22 kois (most of them are tosais)...

Well, it was really an interesting experience to watch kois from different bloodline progress...certainly a good learning curve in understanding kois...Next pond visit at joy's place should be exciting, gotta admire his 90 cm soragoi, that indirectly brought me to this hobby he2...

Yup, andrew's antics was definately a highlight, I don't think hasan would brought him too often if he keeps making those funny faces he2, what a miss for us...lrite guys, see u all in the next visit, hev a good week everybody...cheers...

Hi Joy,
Looks like you (super rich) guys are having a lot of fun down south. Much more active then our local ZNA club where the secretary is sleeping on his job.

So the next pond visit (say to your rich man friend who has 2 1000 ton pond with top quality koi all personally imported from Japan) (last heard they spend RM2.0 mil shopping spree for koi only in Japan), I don't mind taking a flight down to Jakarta! What's more! When Air Asia could fly us they for less than RM200! What say you? Fly in on Friday and back by Sunday... interesting weekend, don't you think so? Oh! BTW any free boarding? (Joking lah!)

So.... joy, M I welcome for the pond visit too... LOL!!!! Hi, I am serious lah!!!

Cheers
Roger

Hallo Roger
of course you are welcome to join our pond visits. all you have to do is say when. but be forewarned, our pond visits are more of friendship enjoying each others company and looking at each other's modest koi, meaning don't expect to find jumbo show contest class koi nor ponds in our premises. We really like keeping koi, but we're not the type of serious / fanatic collectors.

the friend who has the big ponds? well, i don't keep in touch with him much lately as i don't know him all that well, but i think it can be arranged if you want to see it. It's a couple of hours away from jakarta in the hillside. his pond is actually 2x400T.

Boarding? sure, can stay at my place if you don't mind the modest surrounding (for the umpteenth time, Roger my friend, i'm NOT rich let alone super rich, man!! well not yet anyway hahaha).

Maybe you'd like to visit during the All-Indonesian koi show. i heard it's coming in March/April in Jakarta.

Hi...

Thanks for your invitation .
Please don't call me "Pak" ... i'm still a junior ... Cool
I live in Surabaya .

My home very near to Surya Koi & Nirwana Koi (not more than 2 km) ..

Mr. Surya has one pond approx. 1000 ton ponds : fill with jumbo koi and his own bred tategoi tosai only & few smaller ponds approx. 30 tons.
Now he is more concentrate with his own bred kois mainly gosanke and shiro only .
He wish to have champions from his own bred.

Abt Nirwana , he will import many Japanese tosai from Matsunosuke , Sakai , Momotaro , Maruyama also will have special grade Goromo in this shipment .
He always offer me very good price for his koi , so i bought many koi from him.
My pond was built by his recommendation pond builder also . Smile

Mawar seems have mix local & Japan koi in one pond ..

So I'm more keen with Surya and Nirwana Koi ..

Cheers,
Riwin
