Hi All,
Thanks to Golden Koi who has invited some of their customers to attend dinner with Kentaro which has been held on last wednesday, 07 June 2006 at Ming Restaurant. Myself came at 20.00 and there were already about 20 people in a room with 2 tables setup. I saw some of known hobbyists overthere like Rendy, Joy, Maris, Luckyl, Paulino and so on. Well it was very nice dinner cause we could met son of Sakai Fish Farm owner, Kentaro Sakai. The main reason of why we came ofcourse we came with questions on each people mind  . Curiosity, questions of problems we've been through and faced, and anything else had been asked to Kentaro. And Kentaro had answered all the questions one by one with so generous and patient. In short, what I've just know from the dinner were :
- Sakai Fish Farm originally breed consumable carp few decades ago, and when they entered 'carp business for leisure' (read : Koi  ), they focused on shiro utsuri as the basic foundation of Sakai Fish Farm. So they have been bred shiro utsuri for about 30 years ago before they moved to gosanke line.
- Thick ozutsu will not be on every koi, it's very depend on koi bloodline and genetic factors.
- Feeding regime :
# For tosai, 4x a day, quantity about 3% of koi weight (so now we have to follow GC Spyder way for weighing kois )
# For big koi, 5x a day, quantity about 1,2% of koi weight.
- The best food for koi is sinking type. Sakai also makes pasta theirself which contain wheatgerm (made from wheatgerm pellet that has been crushed), oyster, shrimp powder, mix with honey.
- Feeding given for 6 days only. 1 day off
- Water change about 20% daily, start in the morning until afternoon gradually.
- Best growing temperature is 24-25 degree Celcius
- Best temperature for finishing koi is 22 degree Celcius (preparation for koi show)
- SFF doesn't feed their kois which entering koi show for about 2 months after the show.
- For chosing koi from picture, the tips is chose only the pattern. Body conformation could be ask to the dealer who attend the auction. We could see the kois which would be auction 3 days before the auction day. Chose only a koi with good shasi and kiwa.
- Marukome kiwa is prefer than kamisori kiwa.
- To spawn a female koi, first give a low temperature about a week, than change water temperature about 4 degree higher in sudden action.
That's all that I could rember for now. Hopefully there would be another addition from the others.
