Welcome to the forum Dimas, From your posting, I guess that u have quite a good knowledge about kois...I started the hobby for 6 months only, gained some insights along the way, and will be happy to share some tips with you... As your koi grows, I'd think that the deeper the pond, the better it is for the kois...of course there's some limit to it, 2.5+ Meters is abit overboard, as u can't really see the kois when they're at the bottom...In your case, considering ur pond surface area is not big (around 5.3 m2), 1.5 meters would be enough...if u go deeper, oxygen problem can surface...Our friend, Luckyl construct his pond with only 1 meter depth to play with, and he consequently regrets it (can hear him banging his head he2), as his kois gain some size...To prevent juniors from playing near the pond, U could build a fence around the pond's parameter or alternatively, put a net (u could get this at Golden Koi) on top of ur pond...putting a net would be a cheaper solution, however, clarity can be a problem when viewing the koi... From the pond spec given (1.5 m depth), ur pond's volume is roughly 8 m3 or tons...aim for a pump that can circulate ur water volume once per hour or once every two hours (go for 4000-8000 liters/hour), I use Tsurumi and Nocchi and they're great...u can consider the smaller Nocchi (cheaper compares to Eheim) that is able to deliver around 8000 l/h of water...I also recently found a couple of descent quality submersible pump at Ace Hardware that would probably suit your pond spec (lower turnover rate) better... Dimas, if u could, please use the gravitational system instead, as recommended by lots of sifus in this forum such as dttk, etc...It's actually better to use ur cylindrical vortex as a settlement chamber (connected to bottom drain from ur pond) and include at least one filter chamber (custom made from fibreglass is still ok), then u can put a pump in the custom made filter chamber, and pump the water into bakki showers...U could read previous threads in this forum, about the importance of gravitational fed system (w/ bottom drains) as opposed to pump fed system... Bakki showers w/ bioballs do contribute considerably in improving nitrification process...If ur pond's not overcrowded, u could use a couple of stacks (with 4 or more rows) of the showers as ur sole biological filter...Bacteria House may not be available anymore in Jakarta...I used to get BH from sunter koi, but recently out of stock...If u're looking for small tosais, Golden Koi en Sunter Koi may be the place to go...Here's some of the dealers contact details: Golden KOI Centre Bp. Winarso/ Denny HP: 0816835517 Sunter Koi Bp. Sugiharto HP: 0818787668 Nirwana Koi Centre Hp 0816709250 (Eric Jonathan) Jakarta KOI Centre Telp.782-2046 Hope that helps, and feel free to join our pond visists...Good Luck ...
