Media for Trickle Fiter?	Can't Post

Hi friends;

I have plan to add trickle filter for may small (1.5 X 2.5 X 1 meter) pond,
and I wonder whether batu apung is efficient as media for this kind of setup?,
I know that Bio ball many people recommend, but if batu apung work the same,
it will be nice for poor people like me :)

another things;
1; Anyone can recommend cheap but good enough aeratir for my pond (merk resun any good?).
2; What merk food that good to grow your koi, local and import?

batu apung will cause you headache in the long run. bio ball is a better choice although it can also bring you headache in the long run. the thing with TT is that you need to make sure that the water into the TT tower is 100@ dirt-free (even the fine particles). batu apung will happily trap those fine particles and give you the headache some years later.

recommended air-pump: takatsuki a.k.a hi-blow. my suggestion: don't consider only the purchase price, but rather the total cost of ownership (equipment performance, life-time, watt-consumption)

recommended food: Saki Hikari Hi-Growth for growth

those r just recommendation, it's ur money at the end of the day Wink

Would you explain more about this headache , that I will eventually get if I use TT, and how to avoid it?
and where in Jakarta to buy this Hi-blow, I don't see one at KArtini. and how much is it?

i will definitely not suggest that using TT will give you headache, TT is one of a must in our filtration system. it's the media selection that will give you headache. you need to avoid media yg bisa trap fine particles, like lava rock. the headache later will come from the need to clean in thoroughly, and if u choose not to clean then the clogged lava rock may affect water quality and cause disease like hikui etc. so, go for filter media that easy to clean, this will make you lebih deligent in cleaning it. begitu lho maksudnya.

Hi-Blow termurah setahu saya di Dragon Koi greenville (kayanya dragon selalu yg termurah deh kalo peralatan). Mau lebih murah tunggu Young Koi Show April 15-17 nanti. Di hari terakhir beli aja di stand nya, biasanya bisa dapet diskon lagi 100-200 rb, lumayan Wink

Just wondering, where u guys bought your TT? Cause I am looking for one too. Btw, I am agree with Mr. Koilvr that you should use HI Blow from the beginning if the fund is available. Sebab saya baru ganti dengan HI BLow satu bulan ini dan the performance is superb. Saya punya RESUN 60, dalam 5 bulan performancenya turun drastis and sudah hampir jebol Wink

. With Hi Blow, you pay the premium price but you get superior output and quality. Also I believe Resun has much more power consumptions than Hi Blow in the long run.

I will use a Tall and Wide Plastic Drum for my TT :)

tt bisa banyak bentuk, tujuan tt untuk memaximalkan kontak udara dengan permukaan air untuk gas exchange, di home koi.com.my ada forum khusus buat diy tt. some have very interesting designs. the tt I made is an eyesore, 4 stacks of industrial crates, media bioball and zeolit. with 200lpm tsurumi for the shower.

saya lagi pikir kalo sempet bikin pake pralon 8 in atau 10 in, 4 unit @ketingian 2 meter, isinya bioball, pralon vertikal lebih mudah diumpetin daripada box box biru kirapac.

tinggi tt yg saya buat ini skrg kira kira 1.2m, nitrat masih belum tuntas, sepertinya harus ditinggikan
