New Sakai kois at Samurai Can't Post

hi guys,

FYI, Samurai koi have new batch Sakai kois on last Friday, 14 April 2006. There are kohaku, showa, sanke, kujaku, beni kikuryu, shusui, shiro, and so on. But none asagi. Below are some pics of the kois over there, taken by me at noon just several hours of their arrival. I don't want to miss to cull first Tongue.

Cheers,

Hey Paul,

Actually it was just a coincedence. I stayed there 3 days having vacancy with my family. Then Kiki announce the batch arrived on last Friday, so I managed time to get there...and I found some interesting kois before other did Cool. Below are some of the kois I bought. Kiki has 825 kois in this shipment with only 6 dead (on 1 doze, because of lack of O2 and the plastic teared). Would you come join me next week when I get the kois?

Cheers,

Hi Kohaku_doitsu,

Thanks too to you. I think Kiki will still in Japan that day, because he just went there to attend another Sakai auction. But you could still chose some kois there...and make it asap bro, cause I see quite a lot people picking gosanke. Last time I went there by last Saturday, someone took all shusui. The price range between 1 million to 4 millions and you still can bargain. Usually Kiki will give an extra discount on his kois Wink.

Thanks Paul for your comment. The left koi actually already belongs to someone, but I asked Kiki to call him and then he didn't mind to hand over the koi to me Sly. Both has deepest shiroji than the others.

Hi kohaku_doitsu,

Yes you are right about it. These kois are sakai selection which then been auctioned before entering the primary auction. I know what you mean by "the other dealer" Tongue.

Handy,

Paul is Koi888, I'm Rudy a.k.a Koilvr Smile. Sorry bout the confusion but you can say we're the same cause, like you, we both love koi the same, aren't we Paul Wink. Hope these 2 Kohaku will turn out to be female.

Anyway, do you happen to know whether Kiki provide a rental/grow-out pond service. If he is, and the price is right, I'm considering getting this Sakai batch if I find one I like (and the price is right again Blush). If Kiki has a rental pond, it should be fun if we can collaborate and arrange with him a Grow-Out event just like GC did with Max AngelicCoolSly.

Cheers.

Hi Rudy,

Now it's being clear Tongue. I just don't want to miss call you if we meet sometimes. As long as I know, Kiki doesn't provide pond rental service, because he does short of pond himself to hold those all kois. I ever heard someone open this service on Puncak area with mudpond type. I guess if your pond is just right, you not need to rent any pond. I could tell this, because my pond itself doesn't have good filtration system, but I do water drop system to wash out the dirty water and so far my kois grow good enough Angelic. After knowing much things about kois from this forum and read some kois literature books, I'll renovate my pond soon enough (scheduled on next may). Right now, I'm still configure its design to meet my mind.

Grow out event? Well, it's something that I wanna do. And hopefully our pal GCSpyder doesn't mind to duplicate his event system Wink. But I'll do the talk first with the dealer. Once he confirm, I'll soon doing this. But hopefully my works not overload Laugh.

Hey, Rudy, are you the one with the same nickname on yahoo groups?

Hey Rick,

Long time no see your words here. I just called Rully yesterday. In fact, his pond at Cisarua has a little crack so his pond until now couldn't be used. My pond? I'm renovating it soon, so we may move on to others pond first (another excuse to refuse Tongue, not like that lah, I'm just a shy guy).

Hi Handy,

Yup, it's me Koilvr in yahoogroups's Ikan-Koi, in Koi-Bitto, in Koiphen and off-course here in koi.com.my Wink
This is the first koi discussion board on the net that I join since I first came into this hobby. I've been here long before I participate in the yahoo groups forum.

If we can hold a grow-out event back in Indo, that will be marvelous Shocked If I can be of any help, I will be more that willing to assist. We have to admit that people still fancy imported kois more than the local ones. This should be a good starting point for the beginners like me Laugh.

Like you, I'm in the process of building my "real" pond. Hope it can start soon enough. Not going to be a big one though, perhaps only 30T excl. filter, and likely a second smaller pond... say 2T for small koi. I love to buy small kois, make projection on how they'll grow up, and see what happens Smile I enjoy the learning and not so much the competition/show, at least for now. I'm currently tring to design a maintenance-free pond, if there's ever one Sly

cheers.

Jarvis,

It's indeed a good sanke with very well color balance. Look at the shasi that almost finish though it just a tosai koi. A jet black sumi while it still young can tell the quality of the sumi later on, but we must aware of this koi being a male, because male koi could finish earlier than female and often win young koi show because of it.

Now, what do you think of this sanke below?

Cheers,

monscine....

You are such a pro at choosing these Sankes......I adore it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Smile

The Tancho hi add a final touch up to the nicely built cigar shape body....Smile

I noticed the thick tail end flank.....how do I boost muscle grow of koi in this particular area?

I heard it's mostly due to the bloodline too...Laugh

BTW: This koi should be a female right?

Jarvis,

I'm just nothing to koi terms. There are many other people who are more 'kichi' than me. And yet, the koi also hasn't be mine. Tongue. I'm still negotiate the price with the seller. And I still don't know the sex of the koi because it's still in Japan, but
they said it is she.

To my experience, the tube thickness or usually called by "ozutsu" is coming from genetic factor. Not all kois would have thick tail tube. But put them on a mud pond being said could help this section to be more thick. Any kois bloodline would face this fact.

Re: [s_clan] New Sakai kois at Samurai [In reply to] Can't Post

Jarvis,

Mud pond usually are a very large volume pond in which kois could swim as far and as long as they want. This should mean the koi would grow well just like a kid doing sport activity to develop his/her muscle and so on. Beside that, a mud pond contain a number of other food resources and minerals that could then help promote the grow itself. So basically, a mud pond would help in these ways below :
- promote good growth
- color quality usually enhance
- beni/sumi pattern usually become more solid and promote sumi appearing

Cheers,
