New in the list Can't Post

Good Morning Indonesia... Kulonuwon...

Hi Koi lovers,
I am a new in this forum so pls your understanding. Browesed into the deep of web forest found this shadow most actively and encouraged.
Start keep koi since Feb '06 and as you can be guess my first 10 kois rip. To learn more of that beautiful dead fishes brought me here. First, I try to learn on pond construction and requirment related to Koi healthy. Now learn the diseases and treatment. Slightly understand nitrogen cycle, filtration and design as I am a chem.Eng.
I put my 3mx2m x 75 cm deep pond indoor where It is the only space I have, so nothing sun go trough on the water. My Koi dealer said it will be better if sun could get onto the pond and so the Kois. Is it true where many comment here to shade the pond? What is exactly the effect of sun light on Kois color? Do they need it much?

I only have some local kois, averagely 30-40 cm, they are 2 of kohakus; 1 showa; 1 tategoi sanke (before no black, now it has jack black and deep red and still improved), 1 chagoi, 1 ginrin ochiba, 2 ogon (Ki and platinum), 1 bekko. That are my collections since my shusui, ginrin tancho, ki utsuri and one ochiba had die a week a go as they got ilness.

Please apologize of my silly introduction and confident you will welcoming me.

Thanks
Ghoz

[Ghozze] New in the list [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys

Anybody has experience or knows about the sun effects on the Kois ? (except sunburn or algae blooming of course). I plan to build another pond in a few days to go but just slightly difficult to decide if it really has positive effects on the kois.

Thanks
Ghoz

monggo mas, wah ketok'e wong jowo iki sampeyan Wink

sunlight r very good for kois, but too much sunlight can have its drawback like algae, temperature rise, etc
some people dealt with this problem by adding some shade in some part of the pond, my pond exposed to sunlight from 9 am to 2 pm Smile but my koi personally love sunlight, their colour is so intense altough only feed them with wheatgerm ..

Hi Mas Kohaku_doitsu

Nice to read yor positive answer.

Hehe...he.... yor guess absolutely right. I live in Solo eventhough I 'm not a Jowo, wife...yes she is.
Thanks to yor respond, I'll try the best I could for my kois anyway. Like yours, this planned pond might be under the sun from 08.00 to 12.00 only. Thanks again.

Regards
Ghoz
