Re: [rickytanoto] The third pondvisit [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,

Here's a short preview of our 3rd pond visit to Rendy's house. The house is so nice looking and once you get inside you'll surprise how large the area in the back. Mamamiaaa Cool. With a minimalis nor modern style house, the pond looks suitable to the house design as I pic the pond myself. The first pet of Rendy's welcome me just as I enter the house (I don't know the dogs strain, but they're in well body condition and shape). Once get in, Rendy came to welcome me, and Ricky was over there too. Got recognize each other, we directly stepped to Rendy's pond in the corner of the house. There we found the bakki shower, and some kois inside the pond. Not to long then, Benny came too and joined us discussing koi world. I got a lot point of views from Rendy as how he treated his pond firstly before jumped the kois in. And also about the filtration system. Very nice pond and very nice kois inside Rendy.

Well, Ricky might continue the story as I need to go. I uploaded the pics I've taken this day.

Thanks for your humility and kindness, Rendy. You are a very nice host. And thank-you also to Ricky and Benny as we can get know each other. Specially to Benny who actually is a friend of my friend. No wonder why you are so familiar to me. Small world Ben Wink.

cheers,
Handy

Re: [monscine] The third pondvisit [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,

Here is a small report of the third pond visit.

I arrived at rendy's house around 10 a.m. although the appointment was at 11 a.m.
I am sorry rendy I can't help it as I am so excited to see your pond and kois.
When I arrived I was greeted by two huge labrador dogs (Rama and Rexy).
Nice dogs. I am quite afraid but the vet that came earlier told me that they are tame.
Phew.. indeed they are tame, they sniff at me and even lick my trousers.Shocked

Then rendy came out and we introduced ourselves. Later I met with his father and
fiance. They are very nice people. Rendy told me that he got this koi keeping hobby
from his fiance as she keep ranchu as her hobby. When rendy start to keep ranchu
he met with joy, who has a ranchu shop, and then joy showed rendy his 90 cm soragoi
which make him involved in this koi keeping hobby. Wow!! God work in a mysterious way;
otherwise, we would not meet rendy, such a good young man.Sly

He has a huge pond with 9 chambers filtration systems and a DIY bakki shower.
The DIY bakki shower is consists of first step as inflow with plant in it, second step
fill with bacteria house and third step fill with bio balls. Over all the water is crystal
clear and the kois look very happy swimming inside the pond.

Later rendy showed me inside his house. He has a huge swimming pool and a sauna
pool beside it. You know what, rendy told me he would like to change his sauna pool
into koi pond, of course I agreed with him since he is talking to a koi kichi. Even
better the swimming pool itself rendy.Cool

Then I met rendy's other pets, such as the tortoise, and the assorted gold fish
(ranchu, lion head, kaliko, etc). He even show me some baby ranchu that was bred
by him. Who knows in the future he will breed kois also. Way to go rendy, you already
have the potential oyagoi.Sly

Harris came around 11 a.m with a sad face as his kois are not doing well as the amonia
and nitrite level are quite high this morning. Not to worry, guys he already had some
water change before he came to see us.

Benny came around 11.15 a.m. Currently he has no koi but is planning to build his pond later.
I think he is a lucky guy as he could learn from our mistakes and build a perfect pond. (eh
corrected a near perfect pond Tongue)

After all are gathered rendy is very kind to bowl his favourite kois and put it in the measuring tub.
As you can see from the photos they are excellent specimen, aren't they? His selection of kois is
excellent. Some to mention the benihanako kohaku, the champion showa, the three steps kohaku,
and others that are not capture in the camera. You should see it to believe it.

After that we went to rendy's living room and have some drink. The discussion of koi world went hot
and as usual we recommend rendy several hot spot for the future koi ponds. Indeed he still can have
three koi ponds. Angelic.

Then rendy ask us to join him for lunch, and when I look at the watch it was already 2 p.m. my... my..
the koi world has made us forget about the lunch time. Unfortunately, harris cannot accompany us
as he get some business to attend.

Before going for lunch, we manage to take a look at his house even further and I found the koikichi 2 books
near the tortoise cage. Rendy is so nice to lend me the books. thanks rendy Wink

Then, we went to the same restaurant as joy and the gang has come before. I like the food a lot, I think
benny and rendy also like it very much. No complain at all plus it was a compliment from our host. Again thanks
a lot rendy.Sly

After about an hour talking about the koi world, my home minister already call me in the cell phone as I promise
to bring her lunch. We decided to call the day off. When I left benny is still talking to rendy, maybe he would like
to add some to this report. Rendy, my home minister thank you for the good food also.

I really enjoy this pond visit, rendy is a very good host, thanks for a good time rendy.Cool

I can't wait for the next pond visit. Who would volunteer? Joy how about you? I would like to see your famous soragoi.

cheers

Guys,

Ricky, sorry i couldnt make it since i hv family activites to attend. Good to hear pond visit went well at Rendy's. Now we hv quite a few members which can participate in the next pond visit.

Handy, welcome to the koi keeping hobby. Btw, last pic that you post - showa, i believe is a sanke not showa .. minor correction. I think there are more qualified selections of rendy's that didnt make it to measurement bowl that day.

Same with Ben, hey welcome to the hobby too.

Where are the pictures of the kakis or tategoi ? he3x.

Hey rick, a very entertaining post, hope that u gain useful info just before u start building ur new pond...luckily, the weather stayed overcast during measuring...it started to pour down heavily when we had lunch tho...I think we shuld made pond visit at least a monthly event, that way, we can exchange info on kois and perhaps a dealer visit afterwards (i.e. more people, more bargaining power, i.e. shuld there be another benihako's Wink)...

Han, thx a lot for the pics, can't wait to see ur pond, l once u finish renovating it Smile....Benn welcome to the forum, dun forget to join us in upcoming visits Cool...Paul, let's make ur place the next venue, any other suggestion guys?...cheers...

Rendy, I agree with you that we need to have a more frequent pond visit activities. I think once a month is too long.

I am thinking of once a week, every saturday morning at 10-11 a.m will be the best for everybody. (except for
rully but I think he will get the time in this coming holiday season).

Paul already volunteered for the 2nd of July, thanks my friend.Smile

Guys, how about this week? who will volunteer? anyone?

Hi Rick, seems you r the real koi kichi around here. Once a month sound reasonable to expect everyone to show up, even then I think it is still difficult to get our schedule together due to our own matters. Of course, we can always make smaller koi trip group (2 - 3 person) for dealer, pond visit, getting koi food on weekly basis.

You r welcome, however I must warn you that my pond and its inhabitant is less commandable than other seniors (incl rendys), so dont expect too much from it ok Wink

Maybe after the next pond visit, we could also go for the dealer visit. It will be very interesting.
I remember the first time we went to Wiwi place after Hasan pond visit and we managed to get good price for benihanako off spring. Some of us even get very very good deals because of the dealer mistakes.SlySlySly

So what do you think, guys? Which dealer could be the target after the pond visit?

Paul,
You are very humble. I believe you have selection of excellent kois also.

OK guys, I will hold my horse, we would not have a pond visit this weekend,Sly

as it was only a short notice and everybody already has his own schedule.

What about in the June 25th as you guys are leaving for Bandung on June 18th,

will this be enough time to arrange a pond visit?

Of course Maris after pond visit we can do the dealer visit too.

cheers
