Help with treatment Can't Post

Hi All,

Last week I went to Llamas in Candaba. I got a few very nice koi but since they are direct from the mud ponds they havan anchor worms. I have the 5 koi in a QT tank. Please let me know what is the best treatment for Anchor worms. Koi are eating well and seem to be fine.

Thanks!!

Since it came from the mud pond, you can count on it having other nasty bacteria, flukes which you can't see, aside from anchor worms. Quarantine is a must.

Add non-iodized salt and raise the water salination to .3% Ask pet shops if they have 'em. Compute how much the volume of water in your QT tank and use this online calculator to find out how much salt you need. If you can't find non-iodized salt, I believe the supermarket variety will do. Its important to maintain the salinity throughout the quarantine period to ensure the bad guys are killed.

If your QT tank is small enough, just go to your nearest pet shop and buy inexpensive meds, I forgot the name, its usually in a white bottle in liquid form, active ingredient is neguvon. Keep them in quarantine for about 3 weeks and keep it dosed with the neguvon stuff when you change the water for the first 2 weeks to make sure you kill the larvae and eggs that are hidden. On week 3, hit them with methylene blue. Another 4th week with Pimafix and Melafix combo would be good.

Alternatively, if you can find Dimilin to treat the external parasites that would be good too. And use Potassium Permanganate for the flukes and bacteria. KnP has Dimilin. They also have Masoten which also works. PP is available at chemical companies but you need to present a copy of your business permit as it is a restricted chemical.

And of course, keep your tank securely covered as they'll try to jump out.

Thanks Sir Kenneth!

My QT Tank is 200 gallons. I went to the poultry supply and got Neguvon powder and was told to use 1/8 teaspoon per 75 gallons. I dosed the tank and raised the salt to .3%. I used rock salt from the market. Hope that is ok. I was told to do major water change within 24 hours of the the Neguvon treatment. I did so the next day and then hith them with Meth Blue. I guess I need to keep the Neguvon in the tank for the 2 weeks. I will dose them again tonight.

Can Dimilin be found elsewhere? I am in Pampanga. I am not familiar with Metro Manila and do not know how to go to KnP. Does Koi Village or Cartimar have it? I know how to go there.

thanks for the help Sir!!!

What you're doing should already be enough. No need to buy additional meds at this time. Observe if its effective
