Hi,
what a nice fish. How big is it and how long did you own it? Was it a very expensive fish?

Thanks for the picture.

This is a lovely sansai female Goshiki. She is from a breeder in Niigata who specalizes in koromo. The Hariwake has lovely metallic lustre for a young tosai.

This is one of my favourite fish. I have called him Neville. Whenever you walk near the pond he always comes to say hello. The other picture is of my 5300 gallon pond.

This Showa is 68cm and is 7 years old. He is the biggest fish in the pond and always hungry. This is a nisai female Soragoi with lovely skin, unfortunately she has banged herself and has a dead scale I am removing.

This Tancho Showa is a tategoi from Marudoh in Niigata. He uses Dainichi parent koi, these are very high quality. In the other picture I am just putting on some ointment(friars balsaam) on the Soragoi.

Hi Blue,

I have owned him for two years now and he is still growing nicely. Presently he is 48cm. He comes from Matsonosuke bloodline. I purchased him in Japan from Toshio Sakai who is a go-sanke specialist and probably No 1 breeder in Japan. I paid Php60,000 for him.

Dave

Hi Mike,

Glad to hear you had a great time with your 2nd Koi Club Meeting even though SMB was missing!!!Crazy When I attend I hope Carlo Rossi is in attendance!!

Sadly I will be selling all my koi by auction. In fact I am going to be doing it on August the 8th and then having my ponds filled in. Hopefully I will be in the Philippines by the end of September. Then I can start again!!LaughLaugh

Hi Dave,
Where are you moving from? Are you in the States? I am sure you can get a decent price for them on the auction block. Try ebay or koiauction.

I am from England. I am going to have an auction at my house. Over the years I have built up a big address book of people who keep koi and am hoping to have 50+ people here. I might take some photos of the auction if anyone is interested.

7ft deep that is really deep for a
koi pond, it must be hard catchinmg them.
your koi must be really happy.

Hi Dave

Lovely pix and very nice koi indeed. It's too bad though that you are goin to sell all your koi and have your pond filled in. We'll be having another meeting this coming Aug 15 I know you still cant join us but maybe on the next you can probably join us. Where are you going to purchase koi once you get here? See you in Sept.

Hi Hindley,

I am really hoping I can join in September. When I get a pond built in Davao I am just going to buy some very cheap koi I saw in SM. I will use these to mature my pond. When the import ban is lifted I will go to Japan and buy some tosai and nisai directly from the breeders. When I come I will bring some videos of my previous trips and you can show them to the koi club if they are interested.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave

That would be great a film show of your trip, the other members would be very interested with it. SM (Shoe Mart)? They sell koi? I never seen one in SM before. We still dont have a meeting scheduled for Sept though but we'll just keep you guys updated.

Hi Hindley,

When I was in Davao last Christmas I went to Shoe Mart and they had a tank of small tosai, mainly kohaku. They weren't very good quality but they would have been fine for maturing a new pond. They were very cheap, only Php150. I couldnt believe how cheap they were. I have no idea where they came from. From the research that I have done very good quality tosai imported from Japan should retail in Philippines around Php4000 each.

Dave

Re: [koidoc] Pond & Koi pics [In reply to] Can't Post

koidoc, for my next pond, i dont intend to make mat filters anymore, im choosing between the nexus/answer combo or like you said a bubble bead but the brand in particular is AQUADYNE, the one that is heavily advertised at koivet.com ... try looking at the website aquadynamite.com

the seller says the aqua uv ultima is crap. everybody says that the other is crap. but i am leaning towards this aquadyne because it DOES make a claim toward clarity unlike ultima II which claims bio filtering only.
