Grow out event - Series 2 (Momotaro Ryu line Sanke) Can't Post

Hi guys,

This is the start of a new year and what better way to start than with a Momotaro event!

We have managed to negotiate a lot of 50 sankes for our consideration and selection. This batch of koi does come with good credentials.

Bloodline : Ryu bloodline (Ryu - 98cm)
Parentage : Will get info
Date of Birth : July 2005 Tosai
Length : 20-25cm

The traits that we are playing for this lot is growth potential and sumi. Therefore, body selection will be important and sumi will tend to surface well and in bigger blocks. Tendency to become jet-black is higher.

Question will be asked as to the authenticity of the parentage. Each koi purchased will come with a Certificate from Momotaro.

I will be capturing the individual photos and length details in the next few days, so please bear with me and check back here periodically.

Details of this selection event as follows;

Date : 25Feb2006
Day : Saturday
Time : 12pm
Venue : Max Koi Farm
Cost per koi : S$350 + $150 (6 months pond rental with feed)

The cost looks too good to be true if not for the fact that we have the support of Daisuke and Max to make this happen.

With the request of Max, we would like to extend the invitation to our friends in the region, including Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. We will set up a selection procedure for you. Once the koi has finished its 6month holiday, shipment can be arranged easily with Max to have it shipped back to you.

Some of you have already responded to me before but as the cost is now confirmed, please do respond to me again your participation if you don't mind. I will be making available more information as soon as I get them.

Let's grow them 'Big, blocky and black'! Cool

Cheers..

Hi Peter,

Happy to take your questions.

Yes, you are right about the cost of koi and pond rental. Sashimi is a good idea too. Tongue On a more serious note, sanke is more for the longer haul and its development can take a bit longer. In fact, the sumi might submerged on the second year and come back on the third. One never knows.

The secondary market for koi is as good as you can find a willing buyer. Here in Singapore, it can be a little bit difficult.

I have spoken to Weetin. He is not looking at Sanke for the moment but is willing to help and hopefully can reconsider his position Smile Koi38 is Jon and he resides in Australia, a koi unfriendly place for importation. ShockedCool

Cheers..

GS

Thanks for the pm and remembering me. My story is that I have been and will be quite occupied.

Apologies if I sound difficult but genuinely, I will indulge if your forthcoming photo/s of the sankes turn me on.

As you can see, I am rather deprived such that I have to resort to sanke photos (to turn me on.)

Looking forward to the photo/s. Thanks

#Congrats on the recent Murakami event and to all those who had a hand in organizing it..."Thank you for going that extra mile."

Wow!!! Think you've outdone yourself this time with your negotiations on price and holding an event of this scale.... Am already drooling with excitement after reading the post.

Just one question though, for us members not in Singapore, how are the selections to be made for those not staying in Singapore ?Smile

Hi fff,

I think the whole purpose of the exercise is to have it raised together in the same condition. After the whole exercise, we will be able to see which were the ones that we did or did not select that turn out well. It is good for all our learning experience. Even those that we did not choose during the selection will remain in the growout pond during the 6 months. That is the commitment from Max. Hope this arrangement is ok?

Cheers..

Hi wtansk,

We had some preliminary discussion with Max on the sumi. He strongly contend that this is a trait of this bloodline as is famous with Ryu bloodline, big blocky and black sumi (if you get a good one Smile). As with sanke sumi, it can come and go in the next couple of years. I will get from information about the bloodline and post when I receive them.

Cheers..

Hi guys,

The discussion with Max went well. I will update the details of the discussion in the next few days as I am very busy at the moment. I will need some time to tidy up the individual photos as well.

Anyway, here are some group photos to whet your appetite first. Enjoy

The koi all range from 20-26cm. Weight is between 100-300g. Very interesting lot. Remember that they are only 7months old.

Hi Peter,

Spoke with Max on buy back possibilities. On a non-committed basis, he is willing to explore this. If we are willing to cut loss and we want to get rid of some of our own selection, he is willing with us, provided our expectation is reasonable. I think this arrangement is more than fair at this stage.

Cheers..
