Koi Auction - In Aid of the China Earthquake Victims Can't Post

Hi all,

The koi auction to help the victims of the China Earthquake had started. I had just received pictures for 4 Female Jumbo Tosai, kind sponsored from Diamond Koi Farm in Pasir Ris. They will be put into the auction with a starting bid price of $500 dollar. There is no reserve price set. The auction will last for 1.5 weeks, ending on 12 midnight of 15th June. If any koi that has no bidder, the auction for that particular koi will start again for another 2 weeks and so on. If by 31st of August and there is no taker, we will return the koi back to the sponsors. This applied for the Koi Sale as well as the koi GO event. Payment is by cheque make payable to Singapore Red Cross upon collection. I can help to deliver within Singapore.

The koi sponsored for the auction by Diamond are jumbo tosai, imported from Sakai recently. They are confirmed female, ranged from . The normal 30 to 46cm. The market value for those koi ranged from $1200 to $2000 or higher since they are confirmed female.

I would like to thank Mr Lee of Diamond koi for his donation. You can visit him as well as view the auction koi at his farm in Pasir Ris.

I hope the auction can start off well and raise enough funds for China earthquake victims.

Here are the link to the auction page http://www.koifriends.com/eauction/eAuction.pl You will need to register yourself with a valid phone number. Send me a SMS at +65-96695889 before you start to bid. This is to allow me to validate your registration.

The photo of Diamond's Koi are per below

Sakai Showa. Tosai. 35cm Female

Sakai Kohaku. Tosai. 36cm. Female

Dainichi Showa. Tosai. 45cm. Female

Omosako Shiro. Tosai. 30cm. Female

Hi Koilvr,

Honestly I don't have a reply for you. On one hand, I need all the supports from anywhere to raise enough funds but at another end, I don't know how to ship the koi oversea.

Do you have any Singapore dealers that you normally deal with on your koi purchase? What I can do is to deliver the koi to your dealer and they will ship the koi over to you at your cost.

I just checked with Diamond Koi Farm. He can ship the koi but he does not think it is worth as the cost of shipment and paper work will work out more than $500 regardless of shipping 1 piece or many pieces. He told me his indonesia customer normally fly here and handcarry the koi back.

Why not you and your indonesian friends participate in the Max Showa Growout? After the end of the 3 months, ship the koi back together and share the cost. And if you bid for any of the fish, you can do it at the same time. You may just need to pay some feeding fees for those koi for 3 months.

Regards

Hi Welson,

Some of us participated in GO events initiated by GCSpyder in Max facility a few years back. Max handled the shipment with a very reasonable charge.

I'll be happy to spread the word regarding the Max Showa Growout, but will wait for the pics to come up. It's unfortunate that SG currency is very strong against ID currency these days, this will make the price offered (SGD 680) quite expensive.

Hi Welson,

are we able to view the auction koi donated by Diamond Koi ?

If possible, I will go down this weekend to view and try to give an assessment on the quality of the koi. If need be, I will put in bid(s) and hopefully can start the ball rolling....the response to the auction so far has left much to be desired.

Hi Kelvin, thanks for monitoring the auction page. Yes, the response is very slow for the auction. I hope with the koi from Diamond, it will heat up the exercise.

You can view the auction fish at Diamond. Just ask for Mr. Lee and he should be able to show you the koi. I will inform him about this tomorrow as well.

I am still waiting for the koi from JK and SPKC.

Hi Koilvr,

I understand that Max had constant shipment to Indonesia, as such he can tap along any other shipment and the charge will be reasonable. Anyway, I cannot comment on this as I am not an expert. Wink

The Max showa picture will be up in a while in this link
http://www.koi.com.my/cgi-bin/koiforum/gforum.cgi?post=106787;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

I took the photo today and was impressed with the sumi and the shiroji. Many of them had good body and pattern too.

Hope I can get the supports from you and your friends in Indonesia.

Hi Welson,

I am quite keen to bid but also need to check if I could transport the fish back with my car to KL. Anyone here has done this before? Any problem at the immigration or custom?

Hi Etano, thanks for the interest.

I don't think it is a problem to transport Koi back to KL. I need friends from KL do that most of the time. Normally they use the 2nd link and if need, pay some "fee" and you should be fine.

Re: [koifriends] Koi Auction - In Aid of the China Earthquake Victims [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all,

I have been to Diamond koi this afternoon to view the 4 koi donated for auction. All four koi are of good quality. My comments, based on my limited knowledge and experience, are as follows :

a. Sakai Showa - good beni pattern, sumi placement and body structure but beni quality only average. Rating - 6.5/10
b. Sakai Kohaku - orthodox 3-step pattern, fantastic hi and shiroji quality with good shine, body slightly on the slim side (but definitely much better looking than what you see on the photo). Rating - 7/10
c. Dainichi Showa - nice beni pattern, sumi slightly lacking at this stage (but who knows how the sumi will develops given she's of Dainichi bloodline), best body among the four. Rating 6.5/10
d. Omosako Shiro - Nice pattern, good sumi and shiroji quality, can't really find any big fault with this baby. Rating 8/10.

I am going kick-start the auction by to placing a bid at $500.00 for the Omosako Shiro which I personally believed it's good value at under $1000 for a guaranteed female Omosako Shiro. Please participate generously in the auction, it's for a good cause !

Kelvin

Akang Datang - I managed to catch Jacky bowling up several koi which he intend to donate for this same auction.....the over 50 BU Dainichi Showas get me drooooooling.........WATCH THIS SPACE !

Thanks Kelvin and Edchong for starting the auction. I appreciated.

I hope with the start, more are coming and we can generate more funds for the victims of the earthquake. The usual word is we are lucky not to be in the earthquake zone or else we cannot appreciate the Koi like we have now. So please support this event.

Per Kelvin obersvation, we should have good koi coming from JK. Watch this thread for more information.

Omosako Jumbo Tosai :- Shiro - 1 bid. Highest bidder - Kelvin bay

Re: [koifriends] Koi Auction - In Aid of the China Earthquake Victims [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all,

I had received the 5 koi pictures from JK koi farm. All the koi are 2yrs old and the size ranged from 48cm to 59cm. The starting bid will be set at $500. I hope with a starting bid of $500, it will trigger off the auction and get sufficient funds for the natural disasters.

To all hobbyists, looking at the quality of the fish sponsored, the market value for those koi are worth much more in the market compared to the starting price of $500. Come and get yourself a high quality koi and at the same time, give those in need a helping hand.

I want to take this opportunity to JK for his donation. You can visit him as well as view the auction koi at his koi farm in Pasir Ris.

Here are the koi sponsored by JK

Dainichi Showa, 48cm, female

Dainichi Showa, 59cm, female

Dainichi Showa, 56cm, Male

Shusui 50cm, female

Shusui 55cm, female

Re: [koifriends] Koi Auction - In Aid of the China Earthquake Victims [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all, while helping David to bid, I noticed a small limitation on the auction software which is not friendly to this donation purpose. It does not allow the first bidder to increase the bid to what he actually wants even if he chose "increase my highest bid" button. The software will start the first bidder with the start bidding price even if he choose higher and click the ""increase my highest bid" button. But the software works fine once there is a second bidder. I will see whether I can modify the software although I am using a free software code from the web.

Meantime, I can modify the database so that the bid price is per what the first bidder wants. So for first bidder, if you want to bid the fish at your price instead of the starting bid, please message me or email me. I will edit the database.

Please trust me on keeping those information in the database confidential.
