buying a new pump Can't Post

hi guys,
It's me again, merry belated christmas and happy new year.

I always have problems and this is the best forum to turn to:

My pump (family) just does not work, i can hear the sound of the pump working, however, it doesnt pump any water (or very little than usual). the pump is coming to 1.5 years old.

the question is:

- can i get it fixed? or buy a new one since it comes with the warranty. where can i get it fixed? whether it is worth the troubles?

- if i want to buy a new one, which brand would you recommend which can last at least 3 years (the family i am using is good for 1 to 2 ton of water).

best regards

Hi, usually any pump dealer will repair your pump. it could be a matter of changing the impeller. Imagine an electric fan, the impeller is equivalent to the 4 blades. it is responsible for moving the water.

if the impeller shaft is not rotating, its probably your electric motor, bring it to an electrician.

Pump output performance will decrease with time. Looks like your pump is due for a change.
My Calpeda brand pumps' performance drop drastically after 1-1.5 years and i have them replaced once this happens.
I've asked around for repairs before but my pond specialist advised not to bother. Once output is poor, you're better off replacing them.

Yeah, Singapore is just a small red dot on the map. But without this small red dot, the map is seriously not accurate.

For pump, normally there is no guarantee. Once it is spoited, the cheaper way is to get a new one. Why bother to repair at a cost and the reliability is questionable after that. The repair cost is not cheap either.

Pirate Dang! My pump conked yesterday! Mr Tan - any recommendations to get it replaced? I need to replace two pumps now - one for undergravel filter and other for waterfall.

Hi, Sorry for reply late. Hope koi is still fine. I did not log in due to the New Year stuff.. Unimpressed

Anyway, you can get pump from any koi farm in Singapore. Maybe you can visit www.diamondkoifarm.com to get the contact and ask them whether they can also install for you at a cost.
