Hi Leoman

Check out petsmart at serangoon. They have some Kusuri Klay. Zion koi along Jalan Kayu has some of Oz origin. Cannot remember the pricing. Good luck.

Cheers.

Zion is no longer at Jalan Kayu. have to visit their farm (Lim Chu Kang?).
personally i find bio-healthy clay quite good though quite costly (almost $200 for 5kg pack). you can buy it at Summer Koi.

Leoman, Refresh clay come in a over 2kg pack so most probably they have repacked into smaller one. BTW, why are you adding clay to your pond? I guess you must have added salt to your pond as well.

hi sankekoromo san,
as i read, montmorillonite clay can keep water clear n it healthy food 4 kois. so like to try it out.
salt is only used when i change water, which is rare.
actually, mine is not a pond, its a 5x3x2 blue rect tub. In spore, space constrain in hdb lah.

Leoman, sorry not trying to mean that you're ignorant. Do not add something to your water because others do it or that's the thing to do but do it because you really know what it is all about. koi clay can keep water clear but you have to fully understand how it works & it characteristic before adding to your pond.
You can add the clay into your koi food during feeding time. It will be more effective than osmosis.
Do you know the GH level in your pond? Adding clay into your pond will raise already high GH level which will not be good for grow development. You said that you seldom change water, this is not good. How many koi do you have & what size? If you keep your water well even tateshita koi can be beautiful in their own way.
Know your water & bio-filter well. Measure them frequently.

hi sankekoromo san, thks 4 yr valuable advice. Not dat i din chg water but seldom coz i pond water r kept clean all d time. There abt 20 juveniles from 3~6 ins. The filter is a 3x1x1 1/2 on top of d pond, a 5x3x2 (itz a blue tub actually).
I try not 2 "monkey c monkey do" coz i m still finding out (& b very sure) wats clay is good 4 my kois b4 adding.
I do need lots n lots of info abt tis. Thks again, pal

Try Refresh powder from Japan. They are essentially the clay that you are looking for your pond. I tried the clay from Petsmart - Very expensive compared to the 5kg pack refresh powder. U may want to check out JK Koi at Pasir Ris. Look for Mr Teo.

BTW, they just have some shipment of koi - Kohaku, Showa and Sanke tosai <35cm. Worth taking a look.

Re: [leoman] koi clay [In reply to] Can't Post

I bought my kusuri clay from Kuala Lumpur and it costs me RM55.00. I m not sure whether the one that i m using is the same clay that you guys are talking abt. Mine is in very fine powder form and white in colour. I usually add them into my pond once a week. Acc to the labelling info it is to replenish the water and clarity as well and research was done by a university abt the clay.
