Injured Koi Can't Post

I have a large koi that was injured yesterday by a heron. I thought it had died because it was floating on its side but today it looks like it might have gone back to its winter dormant state. On of my other koi is by its side. I can see the wound. I added melafix to the pond water but I'm sure what else to do since it's wintertime.

Your situation, I suggest you quarantine the single injured fish....

There you treat it indoors......

If you can, catch the koi and bring it indoors. Add a heater and raise the temp to about 75F. I would apply some bio-bandage to the wound in addition to the melafix. Feed the fish a little bit to keep get it strength up.

Good luck!
