I get all of my koi from the same place. I have become good friends with a local dealer. She gets in anything I want and gives me excellent prices. I have gotten 150 small koi from her this year plus several large fish as well. I can't get anymore till I get another pond built now Cool. She has also gotten me alot of fish for my aquariums.

Where do you get yours ?

Hello! 150 koi?! Wow. Do you have any pictures of your fish? I bought mine from 2 local dealers, they are not show quality but we would like to have show quality, just don't think we could get rid of these koi after spending a year+ raising them.

Hi

I am trying to get some pics of my koi on here. I have some really nice ones plus some that I got when I first started this hobby that aren't very pretty ( by my standards today). I guess theres about 200 total. I have culled about 80 that are now in my reserve tank that I need to get rid of. Tough part is I can't really sell them around here. After she allowed me to buy them at her cost for me to sell them to the public would not be cool. I will likely give them to my father in law and a couple of friends.

I had some new ones from this years spawn ( a surprise to me) and should be able to have lots of little ones next year so between now and then I will have to figure out how to get rid of my culls.

How do you do it ?

Hello I have never had a spawn yet so I do not know about your culling question. Some people sell them at garden centers. Just look for any water garden place and see if they will buy them off you. I have a creek nearby and If I was too have a spawn I would probably take the fry out to the creek and dig a small mud pond for them to live in. I would probably visit every once in awhile just to see how they are doing and to give them some food. But that is just brainstorming.

I'm in Grand Prairie. If you guys are looking for great koi (mainly gosanke) at great prices, go to Brett's Fish Farm, Brettsfishfarm.com, in Danbury (just south of Houston). He breeds some great fish from famous Japanese bloodlines. I have a Jimbei sanke and a Dainichi showa that I got from him in October. I haven't found koi of that quality for the price anywhere, online or otherwise.

Has anyone been to Classy Koi in Wylie just north of Dallas? Any comments on the koi? Quality, price, selection, service?

Howdy Sfrank! I know exactly where you are! I grew up in the Pecos area, although am now relocated to southcentral NM. I was wondering, what would you sell your Koi for? My MIL lives in Goldsmith, and is coming up this next weekend probably, I'm wanting to stock my tank with some. (I've posted a hello/q thread). Let me know if you think we could work somthing out!
