Hi All My name is Graham Walker, I am from Rothwell a Village adjoining Leeds in West Yorkshire, I am retired now (health grounds) but prior occupation was as a Lecturer in HFE, primarily I am a mechanical engineer but my speciality areas are electronics and computing, hobbies/interests include:- Fish keeping/breading, both pond and tropical, woodworking, electronics and computing, also my Grandchildren! Who also love fish! I have been keeping/breading fish since age 12, but still learning! (Mid 50’s) My current pond system has been made to fit my garden (not large) and is constructed completely contrary to standard practice, but to my vision of what I wanted to achieve visually (find what you want to achieve then engineer it to work) I currently have 3 ponds and a stream incorporating 2 waterfalls and a rill, but built in the reverse of standard practice! First I have 2 raised Japanese style wooden ponds 1 high, 1.2m, 1 low 0.6m with a waterfall between, the lower feeds a sunken pond also by waterfall, this then feeds a stream separated by a coble dam, the stream then flows the length of the garden to a collection box containing 2 x 1000gph pumps feeding an Oase 15000 filter with the return to the top pond! The top pond contains 10 different Koi 8 to 10 in(still trying to categorise, 1 is Pure White [Milk]) 1 Stellate sturgeon, 2 Sterlets, middle has 2 Mirror 2 Ghost 2 goldfish 1 Blackmoor (all between 5 & 6in) the bottom is a nature pond with plants only at the moment had tadpoles, turned into froglets! Regards Graham Regards Graham A little thought will prevent a lot of embarrassment!
